INCREDIBLE NEWS!!
Due to popular demand, Reclaiming priestesses Suzanne Sterling and Ravyn Stanfield are bringing their groundbreaking apprenticeship program to the east coast for the first time! The apprenticeship will be held at Deep Root Sanctuary near Philly, P.A., home to 2 of Spiralheart’s organizers.
We expect this transformative workshop to fill up quickly-- space is limited to 25 participants-- if you’re interested, get in touch with us at [email protected] to register. One important note: the workshop dates in May have been changed from May 19/20, to May 12/13. Mark your calendars.
This week on LIB Citizen, Suzanne Sterling talks about what it means to be a Conscious Activist, how to find balance in the overwhelming, and why Lightning in a Bottle is her favorite festival. Suzanne also gives a little preview of what she’s bringing to LIB this year. http://lightninginabottle.org/blog/2012/05/03/the-lib-citizen-interviews-suzanne-sterling/
TADASANA TEACHER PROFILE: SUZANNE STERLING
Suzanne Sterling is an ecstatic vocalist, innovative composer, teacher and invoker of the sacred. Both as a performing and recording artist, as well as a facilitator of transformational workshops and intensives for many years, Suzanne creates sacred and participatory ceremonies for large gatherings and festivals worldwide. She is a co-creator of Off the Mat, Into the World and co-founder of “Bare Witness” Humanitarian Tours. Here she chats with us about connection, cruiser bikes and green drinks.
What do you most hope to share with your students at Tadasana? I wish to share the connection between the yoga practice and living a fully expressive and authentic lift. The joy and power of singing yourself awake.
What is your favorite thing about Santa Monica? Riding my cruiser bike or roller bladed at the beach, the green drinks at Rawvolution, and the fact that more than any other place it is a fertile ground for the conflux of yoga and music.
What is your favorite mountain to climb? Red Rock Canyon in Topanga is my favorite in SoCal. Otherwise Mt. Batur in Bali. Having climbed many figurative mountains in my life, I am currently enjoying the level ground beneath me.
TADASANA TEACHER PROFILE: SEANE CORN
Tadasana teacher Seane Corn will have many duties over Earth Day weekend. Besides teaching four classes - Yoga For a Broken Heart, Vinyasa Flow Yoga: Establishing A Strong Foundation, Detox Flow and Mystics on the Mat - she will be leading the charge with the organization she co-founded alongside Hala Khouri and Suzanne Sterling, Off the Mat, Into the World. Seane took a few moments to chat with us about hiking Topanga and what she considers the best yoga city in the country.
What do you most hope to share with your students at Tadasana? Of course, I hope to turn them on to yoga, or to deepen their experience with it, but am also thrilled to share in in my own backyard. And I know that the California sun and surf will simply inspire me. I hope that the joy I feel in living here is infused in the way I teach yoga that particular weekend.
What is your favorite thing about Santa Monica? The fact that you can take yoga from any number of fabulous teachers, within one block from each other. It's the greatest yoga scene in the nation, as far as I am concerned. On any given day, you can take Shiva Rea, Bryan Kest, Vinnie Marino, Steve Ross, Erich Schiffman, Lisa Walford - it's like a yoga conference seven days a week.
What is your favorite mountain to climb ? Topanga Canyon, where I live, has views that overlook the ocean, the city and even into the valley, and is utterly magnificent. I highly recommend anyone that is coming here for the festival to take a side trip up to Topanga and hike Red Rock or Eagle Rock!
Tadasana teacher and artist Suzanne Sterling brings it home with "My Love is Sweeter Than Honey," featuring Tadasana artist Duke Mushroom on djembe, at Bhaktifest 2010. Suzanne is no joke!
