Clark rushing into a potentially dangerous situation he somehow has knowledge of, pushing the bad guy aside and therefore saving Lex, running over to make sure that Lex is alright and then bringing him into the hospital.

Sitting at Lex's bed, waiting for him to wake up.

Just to tell him " It makes me sick to think that I had to take a life for yours".

Like no wonder Lex is how he is when Clark is so fucking ambivalent.

Lex and Oliver shooting each other, Clark swooshes in to make sure Oliver is alright, sees Lex on the floor and immediately forgets Oliver.

"No, let nature take its course, Clark" and Clark is ready to kill Oliver.

"The world's a better place without Lex Luthor and Clark looking like "That's not right. Oh no, is it? Yeah, okay, it is right. Fuck. But you don't get to kill Lex! My Lex!"

You'll never convince me that Clark doesn't love Lex.

Oh my, Lex's reaction after Lana told him that Clark is going to kill him. The fear, the sadness, the grief, the disbelief, the realisation.

And, by the way, Rosenbaum shows all this in four fucking seconds. Fascinating man.

And then Lex says "Clark can't stand the fact that I'm different now". Like, honey, you were always different and never fitted into Smallville and that is what drew him to you! Clark liked you because you were different! And if you could use your damn brain for two seconds, you could realize that Clark has the same powers as you have now and idk, go fuck him or something.

Clark, I know you're young and a bit stupid and you haven't figured out your sexuality yet. But Lex Luthor has basically been launching himself at you for the past four years for everyone with half an eye to see. Not even you can be THIS stupid.

And even after all the recent fights and you both being nasty with each other he still cares about you and looks at you with such fondness and desire and longing. If someone would look at me like that, I would straight up marry them.

So PLEASE, for the love of god, go kiss this man, tell him that you love him, call him your pretty little boy and fuck him hard and then be happy with each other forever.

I was too young for Smallville when it originally aired, but I remember my dad watching it. From time to time I came into the living room when he watched it, but I don't remember anything specific about it, just Clark and the barn and maybe some fights? And when I started it a few months ago with no knowledge of anything Superman, I thought it would maybe have the same vibe as Heroes, which I watched a few years ago and liked a lot.

So absolutley nothing prepared me for Rosenbaums acting, Lex's personal torment nexus (and the desire to wrap him in a warm cozy blanket) and the fucking Clex of it all - and the obsession that followed.

Needless to say I love it.

Clark asking Lex why he tried so hard to save the friendship and Lex basically saying that he just wanted to have Clarks life as in loving parents, beautiful girlfriend and so on.

Like this was not the vibe I got from the last 5 seasons?! I can totally see that Lex wanted to have the loving family and everything, too, not only on a meta level but for real, and that he really was envious. Maybe he even realised it and just never said it.

But reducing this friendship to just envy leaves out the whole theme of trust and truth in the series. It leaves out Clark wanting to tell people his secret and Lex's fascination and later obsession with Clark. It leaves out "We have a future, Clark." and "Your friendship helps keep it at bay." and "I saved you didn’t I? That turned out alright.". It leaves out the jokes between them, the glances, the hugs. It leaves out Clark saving Lex and Lex helping Clark countless times.

This was never just envy.
