NASA'S SILVER SHUTTLE: X-24A - The NASA/Martin Marietta SV-5J modified into the X-24A Lifting Body in the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. In 1972, the original X-24A was modified into the sleeker X-24B version which is on display next to the SV-5J modification. The lone original flew 28 times as the X-24A - and 36 times as the X-24B - between 1969 and 1975. The SV-5J never flew. Lifting Body technology would later be incorporated into Space Shuttle design.
