hayley had never thought she’d wind up back in this place, but here she’d been. for two months, stuck in the town that had brought her so much. she couldn’t even say that it was all bad--as it had given her her daughter, but still. it felt like it all traced back to this town. hayley looked around and sighed. “alright, if you could go anywhere in the world. where would it be and why?” hayley asked, turning to the person beside her. maybe it was because she’d tried to get back to new orleans, and failed, but she was curious if anybody else had wanted to leave this place.

topanga had a heavy bag on her shoulders as she walked through the town. she was preparing for a lecture that she’d be teaching--which was nice. she was looking forward to it. but it was still weird to her. but she thought it would be nice to give back in that sort of way. she pulled one of the books out of her bag, pausing to make sure she’d marked the right pages when it seemed like all of her books fell from the bag. “oh, shoot.” topanga said, bending down and trying to gather the books and papers. “can you give me a hand?”

nesta had gotten a job, and it felt a bit close to what she’d had to do back in velaris but she actually happened to enjoy working as a manager for the bookstore. but now she’d been looking for her sister, who she hadn’t seen in a moment. figures, that she’d find feyre teaching art though. a knock on the doorframe to announce her presence, nesta then spoke, “so, i see you’re painting. have you been working on anything good yourself, or just teaching?” she asked, walking into the room and looking around. and she looked at her sister and added, “i got a job too, i thought you’d like to know.”

hayley was never the kind of person who depended on other people, in fact she almost hated being dependent on other people. but there was something about rosalie that made hayley want to spend more time with her. she walked into the other’s place of work and looked around, “so, what do you say to getting off a bit early? think your boss will let you go. if not, i think i could probably ask a bit more nicely, sweeten the deal or something.” hayley knew rosalie owned the place, but she was just joking, or teasing, about it all. except for asking her to get off early.

bloom had been walking down the streets with kiko in her arms when she stopped to get something to drink from the bakery. something she did often, but she looked around the shop while she waited for her order to be ready. pacing a bit at the counter she bumped into somebody, “oh, sorry.” she said softly.

“i do not know. but i am here for you if you want to talk about anything.” nesta knew she hadn’t been there for feyre in the past. but she was trying to make good on all of the things she had done, the ways she hadn’t been there in the past for her sister. and she wanted feyre to see that. she hoped that her sister understood that. “i can make us some tea and we can talk. or we could sit in silence and just...not talk, if you’d like that more too.”

“well, thank you. i do actually try for some people.” and some people, in this case was pretty much just one person in particular. the one she was talking to. “you’re pretty damn cute yourself.”

“well, i...at least now i know your name.” bloom said, even though with her tone raising at the end it sounded almost like a question. she felt almost guilty for not remembering. especially when it seemed like stella was doing everything in her power to get her to remember whatever she’d seemed to have forgotten. “and i’d like to think that we’re friends now despite what i’ve forgotten, right?”
