Departing his ship, Rayce made way for the area designated by his scans. The trek itself was largely uneventful, and only took about two hours. Once he was in the vicinity, the Mandalorian stopped at a ridge to cast his gaze onto a hastily cobbled-together camp. Peering through the scope of his EE-3, he took note of the guards in the area. There were six guards in total, all scattered about the camp. Two humans, a Trandoshan, a Twi’lek, a Gand and a Toydarian, oddly enough.
There were three speeders parked off to the side, and one larger, multi-passenger model. The multi-passenger one was closest to the center tent, where the Hunter figured his mark was. Leaving the ridge, he approached from the South and neared the outskirts of the camp where the guards were presently not watching.
Crouching behind a tent, Rayce watched as a Bothan wandered out of the central lean-to, approaching the Trandoshan, who greeted the fuzzy humanoid with a hissed, “Hey Boss.” And the Bothan shut him down quickly, “Listen you -idiots-! I know that Hutt-slime will be sending someone soon, so I want you to fan out and double your patrols. I don’t pay you morons to sit around jawing at eachother!” And at that, the thugs scattered, complaining and grumbling their general discontent with the present situation.
The two humans took two of the speeders to begin their patrol, the Trandoshan and Twi’lek went to guard the Bothan’s new ‘home’, and the Toydarian wandered over to the fire to tear some meat off what was roasting. Rayce grunted, removing a couple of frag grenades from his belt, priming them, extending the timers and rolling them towards the multi-passenger speeder.
There was a few-second-pause before the grenades exploded under the speeder, sending the rear of the vehicle up in a pillar of smoke and flame, severely damaging the repulsorlifts as well. The guards all went to high-alert, bringing up their weapons as the Bothan charged out, “What the hell was that?!” And upon seeing the speeder in-flames, went wide-eyed and simply backed into his tent. As the guards began their patrol of the camp to look for the cause, Rayce moved to another, better-covered position.
Popping out, the Mandalorian squeezed off a bolt towards the Toydarian first, who dropped to the dirt, clutching his chest and missing part of his left wing. The Twi’lek and Trandoshan slid into cover, laying down heavy blaster-fire on the area the Toydarian was shot from. The Bothan, meanwhile, contacted the duo on patrol and told them to return.
The Trandoshan kept up his firing while the Twi’lek slipped off to the side to flank the Hunter, ducking behind one of the tents adjacent to Rayce’s position. As she rounded the corner, she squeezed off a bolt and managed to tag the Mandalorian in the shoulder-armor, and he dropped into the dirt, going still.
Calling out, “Cease fire! I think I got ‘im.” The Twi’lek moved to investigate with a brow raised, and the Trandoshan stopped firing, stepping into the area with the Bothan to inform him of what happened. As the Twi’lek neared the armored body, she crouched down and grunted, “Mandalorian, huh? Not so tough as the stories would have you believe.” And she grinned, leaning down to stare into the visor like a proud hunter that had killed a prize nerf.
The overly-confident rookie of a gun-for-hire let that pride wash over her for a total of ten seconds before a fist came up and struck her *hard* in the lekku. She threw her head back, releasing a blood-curdling, pained shout. Putting the barrel of his EE-3 under her chin, the Hunter pulled the trigger and got back to his feet, grabbing the Twi’leks blaster and then approaching the center-tent as the Trandoshan rushed out upon hearing the scream. Upon sighting the T-Visor, the scaly alien’s eyes widened.
“They hired a Mandalorian?! Fine. I’ve been wanting one of those helmets anyway.” And then he raised his rifle, firing on Rayce as the man ducked into cover again. Two speeders could be heard now, getting closer to the camp. Bringing up the blaster taken from the Twi’lek, he took the energy cell out and placed it in backwards, squeezing the trigger and hurling the weapon out to the Trandoshan.
As it landed at his feet, the Trandoshan peered down for a moment confusedly at the thrown weapon, “Giving up won’t save y-” And then the blaster exploded, knocking the Trandoshan off his feet and back against the ‘main’ tent. Rayce took the opportunity to advance, squeezing off a few bolts at the alien to put him down before he could get back up.
Now all that was left was his bounty and those other two.
