Swabbies, the unreleased featurette from 1985 (supposedly to release in 1989) has plenty gold moments I haven't seen in a while from a disney old school animation with the characters

Aside from us navy propaganda (due to being produced during the Cold War), it's pretty neat to see everyone being their chaotic selves and not aimed specifically at a younger audience.

There is wreckage, guns, screaming, flirting, panicking, slapping, drinking, Donald being questioned about his sailor suit. Training montage with OINGO BOINGO. Pete being interested in someone else instead of Minnie. Clarabelle with more than one line. Daisy teasing. Mickey Mouse crying AND stealing. You know, day to day stuff.

Huh I wonder if anyone made the whole thing available for free on youtube. The official animatic with the original voices.

Hello everyone! I've been on a little vacation these days, to rest while the summer is still going on, so I'll be away for a while. Now that I'm here, I'll post a picture of Donald on vacation by artist Joan Vizcarra and this clip that was supposed to be an animated film, but unfortunately it didn't happen. From 1985's "Swabbies", where Mickey, Donald and Goofy went to the Navy. It's a shame it didn't come to fruition. Here it is:

Since I saw the Swabbies animatic I took this opportunity to draw the main crew in their outfits from the unmade film.

There are so many unproduced films and shorts with interesting concepts. Why can’t Disney revive them?
