The Little Mermaid in the Duckverse version - Mermay - Under the sea - My version - Tribute to Hans Christian Andersen as well as the 1975 and 1989 versions of The Little Mermaid - Donald as the Prince and Daisy as the Mermaid Princess - Donsy - Duckverse - Literature and fairy tales
This was published on May 31st, but due to a mistake I posted it on the wrong blog, sorry. By the way, this was made and drawn on May 31st!
Every May, various fandoms organize a special competition entitled "Mermay" dedicated to the month of mermaids (the name itself sounds similar XD). Admittedly, I haven't participated in particular until now, and if I did, I certainly wouldn't have started without dedication to one important literary work, i.e. one of the most famous fairy tales in the world, and it's The Little Mermaid! That fairy tale was written by the famous Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen, who published that fairy tale in 1837. It is about a mermaid girl in love with a prince from beyond the water and for him she sacrificed herself so that she would no longer be a mermaid, unfortunately because of her love she also died and ended tragically, but for other mermaids, she did not disappear into the foam, but became a spirit and went to heaven, as a symbol of the migration of souls to the other world. Yes, that fairy tale has a tragic ending, if you didn't know. Admittedly, on the occasion of this fairy tale, many interpretations were made, mostly animated films. One of the best in my opinion is the anime version of The Little Mermaid from 1975 by Tomoharu Katsumata and Toei Animation and of course Disney's version of The Little Mermaid from 1989. However, the anime version is closer to the real version than the Disney version. Of course, there are other versions that I have watched and enjoyed, especially the Soviet version from 1968 and 1976 and the Czechoslovak version from 1976, but this is the best in my opinion. I absolutely do not like the 2023 remake and don't ask me why. As for the Disney version from 1989, I have some complaints, but the best for me is the song "Under the sea" and the sea witch Ursula, as well as the actress Jodi Benson who played Princess Ariel, but also characters like Sebastian the Crab and Flounder.
Without further ado, on the occasion of that fairy tale, I decided to draw my version and of course how the Duckverse version would fit into this, with the best couple in my opinion, Donald and Daisy (Donsy). I drew two drawings, one above the sea, one below the sea, with my favorite characters with certain crossover characters that fit into it. Yes, I combined the 1975 anime version, the 1989 Disney version, and Christian Andersen's book version with the Disney Ducks characters into my own version, where they all fit together into this story. The first drawing is a redraw from the Little Mermaid movie poster. And if anyone asks, I added yellow hair for Daisy, because in the original plan, Ariel was supposed to wear yellow hair, and in other versions of the Little Mermaid, she mostly wears yellow hair. Daisy Duck would definitely be the Little Mermaid (it doesn't matter if she's Marina, Lena or Ariel or Daisy since I combined all those versions into one), Donald Duck would be the prince of the human kingdom (it doesn't matter if his name is Eric, Fjord, Stefan or Donald), Scrooge McDuck would definitely be King Triton (the king of the sea, as well as the father of the Little Mermaid), Magica De Spell would be the sea witch (the role of Ursula would fit best), Donna Duck (Daisy's sister) would be the older sister of the Little Mermaid, who plays the harp, Grandma Duck (Elvira Coot) would be the mother of the Sea King (from the 1975 version), Dickie Duck would be the Little Mermaid's sister, and Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck and April, May and June Duck would be the Little Mermaid's companions and I drew them as Little Mermaids. In addition to them, there are Sebastian the crab, Max the dog, Scuttle the seagull, Flounder the fish, Flotsam and Jetsam the eels (from the 1989 version), Fritz the dolphin (the Little Mermaid's companion and her best friend, from the 1975 version), plus Nemo the clown fish (Pixar version from 2003), Calm and Jellyfish from Sponge Bob. xD Of course drawing everything in my version.
I hope you like these drawings and feel free to like and reblog this, just don't copy these same ideas of mine and my versions without mentioning me. Thank you! And happy Mermay everyone! :D
