A perfectly boiled egg? The most important meal of the day? A fast break? Breakfast can mean a lot of things - or it can have no meaning at all, if you’re a busy bee on everyday mornings always looking forward to the slightly longer lunch break.
I was recently assigned a task at work on the subject of breakfast. As a marketing copywriter my job is to create a written universe and, in this case, encourage people to share their breakfast. It is not with pride I confess my almost non-existing breakfast habits. I am that busy bee mentioned above!
Last spring, when I spent my outs and abouts in New York City, I learned that it is indeed possible to combine busy and breakfast. The Big Apple is heaven for hungry and busy bees! And I chose to embrace it. Here are some of my best breakfast clubs in NYC.
Freemans
191 Chrystie St.
New York
Located in a small alley in a hidden corner of SoHo with only few rays of sunlight, Freemans offers one of the best brunch menus in NYC. Share and savor with your brunch date whether or not it is a cute and blond one like mine. Favorites: poached eggs and the corned beef hash.
Swallow Cafe
49 Bogart St, Brooklyn
New York
When breakfast had to be fast and cheap Swallow Cafe was my treat-in-no-time favorite spot. If you don't hang around in Bushwick, Brooklyn, you've probably never heard of this cosy joint. However, if you stop by, promise me you'll order a Peckish-classic combo: a large americano with nut-milk and a cinnamon/raisin bagel with pure, plain cream cheese.
Kenneth Willardt Photograhpy & Film Studio
Chelsea, New York
Every wednesday and thursday my 9-6's were spend as an intern for a handsome photographer in his amazing studio in Chelsea. Usually, he would be out and around on photo shoots and me and the studio manager would spend mornings preparing the first meal of the day. Here consisting of Jess' perfect 9-minute egg with freshly grained pepper and sea salt, prosciutto di Parma and a piece of homemade pie.
