Once a God

Shh, be still, his beating heart
it pushes against his chest.
My hands around his long neck
twisted and bending, soft and firm.
He thrashes within my grip
and although my hands are small
I manage to wring his life.
His wings stop flapping and fall to his sides
and now he is soft and limp in my lap.
Little did he know the strength that I, fragile and feeble, held.
Once he tried to seduce me
to take me over
instinct set in and now he is nothing
Once he was a God
and now he is nothing.
