swanspuppet replied to your post:The Little Mermaid doesn't have any name in the original story - Nerissa is only from Fables.
Nerissa is a name that means âof the seaâ and itâs also tied to other aquatic stuff (boats and Sailor Neptune on Sailor Moon and lots of other stuff)
WELL ITS A GOOD NAME THEN
IDK i just thought i heard it somewhere else i probably hav ebut now its gonna bug me until i find out
August sounds like heâs under water and Tadâs also fairly sure that there are two of him; staying awake, at this point, seems less appealing than letting himself slip, but he tries, just because his brother asked.
"Iâm sorry," he says, lulling his head to the side and trying to focus on the way the leather feels against the back of his head, then the color of Augustâs knuckles - white - against the steering wheel.
"Weâre almost there."
His voice is so far away.
Tad silently screams at himself to stay awake, to keep his eyes open, but his eyelids are so heavy, and his lungs hurt, and if he can justâŠÂ nap⊠he thinks that, maybe, heâll be okayâŠ
a ship of your choosing (because I always pick fairena xD), met on a cruise ship AU
Weslin
When Franklin took the job as a dance on the cruise, all he really expected was a fun time and a paycheck. Â That was, until he met the cute photographer who was there to take the publicity shots for the upcoming brochure. Â Now he was hoping that there could be more coming out of it, possibly even love.
can they use chopsticks - not the "correct" way (not proper holding technique or really proper use), but he can get them to work his own way.  But it's only for the big things, otherwise he has to switch to other utensils.
what do they do when they cant sleep - Usually just kind of wander around his apartment for a while until he gets bored with that.  Then he goes outside and flies to the top of a church steeple that has a landing and just sits there and watches the city go by.
what would they impulse buy at the grocery store - Raf has a bit of a sweet tooth, so he usually tosses some candy into his cart.  Most popular one is licorice.
what order do they wash things in the shower - He washes his body first and saves his hair for last. Â It's the best method so as little water as possible gets on his wings. Â Sometimes he will clean them up a bit if they're looking particularly dirty, but that's only on the days when he doesn't have to go anywhere since it takes a while to dry.
whatâs their coffee order - Just normal black coffee. Â Maybe a little sugar if he's in the mood. Â He just started ranting about how it's stupid they charge more for soy milk when it's the only thing he can drink.
what sort of apps would they have on their smartphone - There are a bunch of crime related apps that he'd probably use. Â Like ones for drug ID and stuff. Â Then he has a bunch of games that he lets the younger kids play if they're at the precinct for something to keep them occupied.
how do they act around children - Amazingly well. Â He's like the best cop in the juvenile division. Â He gets along with them really well and treats them like people instead of children.
what would they watch on tv when theyâre bored and nothing they really like is on - He puts on the Food Network and watches them prepare all the food.
Cal froze on the steps when he heard the unmistakable sound of something shattering in the kitchen. He sighed and continued to the room, finding Felix standing there and a broken plate on the floor. Felix wasnât really moving, save for some slight shaking. Cal quickly strode over and started to pick up the pieces of broken dishware.
âIâm sorry,â Felix said with a quivering voice.
âItâs fine, itâs just a plate. We have a bunch of them.â
âI mean about mom and dad.â
âWhat are you talking about?â Cal looked up and saw that there were tears coming down Felixâs face. âWhoa, hey, sit down. Whatâs going on?â
Felix let himself be guided to one of the kitchen chairs. He paused a few moments to try to compose himself before speaking. âI didnât tell you everything about the accident.â
Calâs brow furrowed. âWhat do you mean? What didnât you tell me?â
Felix wiped at his eyes with the back of his hand. âWhenever I realized what was going on with the accident, I tried to save. I tried really hard. I thoughtâŠI thought my powers were like yours. I thought I could phase mom and dad out of the car with me, but when I grabbed their arms, only I went intangible. And IâŠIâŠI had to watch them pull away from me while I phased out of the car.â Felix managed a sputtering breath before he began to openly sob in front of his brother. âI tried really hard to save them. Itâs all my fault theyâre dead.â
Cal stared down at his younger brother, the realization of the words sinking into his brain.. He had no idea what happened inside the car during the accident. When he was told what happened, all he knew was that Felix was found unharmed outside of the car. The police chalked it up to some strange turn of events, but Cal knew that Felix was simply using his powers. He had no idea that he actually tried to save their parents. How could anyone have known? Felix knew to shut up about his powers, so he wasnât going to tell anyone about it. But Felix kept it from the one person who might understand what it was like and everything heâd gone through. And now Cal was stuck with the difficult position of comforting his sobbing brother and processing everything.
He took a few deep breaths and put a (shaking) hand on Felixâs shoulder. âItâs okay, Felix. Itâs okay. This isnât your fault.â Cal knelt down so he was eye level with his brother. âYou didnât know. You thought you had the same powers as me, but you donât. Thereâs no way you could have known that then. You didnât know that you couldnât help.â He grabbed a napkin off the table and used it to wipe some tears off Felixâs face. âDonât beat yourself up over this. It isnât your fault.â
Felix sniffled. âYou must hate me.â
Cal shook his head. âI donât hate you. I donât think anything could happen that would make me hate you.â He stood up, tossing the napkin into the trashcan. âWhat do you say the two of us go out for breakfast this morning? Iâll buy.â
Felix wiped away any remaining tears on his face. âYou have to buy. I donât have any money.â
Cal chuckled. âYeah, I guess youâre right. Now go get changed.â He watched his brother walk out of the room, making sure he was out of sight before Cal pressed his palms into his eyes, physically trying to hold back any tear that may have dared to exist. Not showing much emotion so that he wouldnât upset Felix was one of the hardest parts of being a brother-parent. Something that Cal was still trying to get used to.
