somehow this is even worse than the milsim aesthetic
A thing that interested me: Nerf blaster modding. A before and after example of my favourite one, the Swarmfire. (these aren’t mine, I just like the comparison)
Running out of parts mid job...
I went to convert the Stampfire to the external power system but only got halfway through: I realised I need two sockets, not just one. It's annoying because it would have been nice to have been able to test it on the range this evening.
The old crapped out battery tray no longer up to the job.
I need to replace the old tray because frankly, it's a mess. The added benefit of the external pack means that it reduces the total number of batteries required and reduces blaster weight not to mention easing up maintenance.
Start by opening it up, remove the old battery tray but cutting the cables as close as possible. Pray you don't break anything in there.
I drilled 3 8mm holes into the chassis. Two for the plugs and one into the bulkhead between the battery compartment and the blaster dead space.
The two holes ready for the jacks. The one you can see in the front of the picture is an old broken jack that I tried to return to service but couldn't. The holes are well placed and will allow the cable to be tucked into the gap between the chassis and the bandolier mount to make it nice and neat.
There will be further posts when the new jacks arrive...
So, I've "bought" a couple Nerf guns in the past couple days..
Meaning I used my sisters target gift card to buy a Swarmfire, New paycheck to buy a Longstrike, 5 finger discount to come across an electronic Semi-Automatic Barricade, and more paycheck money to buy shiny new Colt M1911 and MP5K airsoft guns. And another 5 finger discount to get a flip-clip reload system, a bandolier with extra clips, and probably about 150 clip-system darts.
I modded each of the NERF guns by taking out the air restrictors and extending the spring, as well as taking out the clip lock system on my Longstrike so I can remove the clip, even if the bolt is locked in place. As well, I drilled out the locking posts on my Longstrike's fixed stock, so it is now removable. Still need to drill out he AR's on my Swarmfire, now that I found my 10 inch drill bit again...
