#swatchmylips #19: @jeffreestarcosmetics “Poinsettia” Metallic Liquid Lip Price: So £14/$18 - I don't need to say anything about this, it's high end, it's Jeffree, the price is good for me. It performs better than other metallic reds at the same cost; it really earns its price point.  Colour: A Christmas red if ever I saw one, it's beautifully bright and very versatile, definitely stunning on pale to deep skin. It's a classic red with a metallic flair! Shimmery as hell! Those gold flecks are everything. Packaging: I don't have anything more to say on Jeffree's packaging; sturdy, effective, simple but sleek. I love seeing that shimmer inside the bottle. Formula: The usual fullest of coverage, it's a tiny bit sticky to begin with if I'm honest but it dries down nicely without drying out my lips. It will not budge, and it isn't smudgy while drying; the application is lovely and smooth, doesn't require too many swipes! Result: I honestly love it, it's not every day but for glam it is 👌I love that it's easier to take off than the mattes, without killing my lips but is super staying. I've had more metallic lipsticks for admittedly less money but this is gorgeous and I'd happily choose it again! It deserves a spot in a mini bundle! #swatchmylips #19: @beautybakerie “The Grape Life” Metallic Lip Whip Price: So £19/$20 - The main comparison I’m looking at is to the other Metallic Lip Whip I tested, it has to stand up to that. Colour: That purple is killer; the glitter is gorgeous; the metallic is beautiful and intense. There’s little stretches which mess up the coverage, but it’s super cute on the whole. It’s certainly a colour I’d wear, it’s glossy and gothy 😋 Packaging: How could I not love this packaging? The unicarton is gorgeous, it makes the product feels snug and protected, and it feels like pulling out coloured icing pens! 😁 I really like the applicator, you only need one dip, it holds a lot of product, and applies perfectly to the shape of the lips. I love the Beauty Bakerie image, because it is cutesy but has class. The signature, the labelling, the soft feel plastic, it really all points towards a high quality product. Also, the way the lid matches my hair is too much :’D I love it. Formula: The formula applies really nicely, and though at first I was shooketh by the coverage but looking back I notice some mauve spots. The disappointing part of this, it felt really thick and heavy, unlike most liquid lips, they often feel a tad heavier than lipstick, but this landed up feeling HEAVY, which I didn’t experience with the other lip. At first I didn’t see any cracking, my lips just felt a little dry but I felt like it was so solid, it wouldn’t ever come off, but on wearing it out, it chipped off into my mouth :( and was gone within an hour or two. Result: To be honest, I was a bit sad, I’ve used this lip a couple times, and I’m still happy with what I paid (£11) and I don’t want to diss this product because I almost feel like I must have done something wrong because the other was so good! But I was disappointed when it started to crack off. I’m not going to write it off, because everything else about this lip is good shit, maybe I just have to work the ol’ girl out. Win or Bin? I’m on the line of 50/50, still a gorgeous lip, maybe the application was bad. #swatchmylips #18: @Lasplashcosmetics “Frankie” Matte Lipstick Price: So £13/$16 - After the travesty of the last SWL, I'll be showing you a GOOD matte red! So for this price we’d be looking for coverage, not drying, nice packaging; now they advertise it as a “matte wash of long-lasting colour in graphic, artistic packaging, this smooth and non-drying formula boasts a high-colour payoff”. We shall see! Colour: Damn! I love this colour, I think it would suit me better when my skin is super pale because it’s quite wintery toned (does that make sense? It’s like a Christmassy red, as opposed to a blood red). But in general, I think it’s beautiful and the coverage is not a “matte wash”, it’s bloody there! It is full coverage. They did the damn thing. Packaging: This lipstick is beautiful but I think my favourite aspect really is the packaging! The artwork of each is so stunning; it’s goffy, the unicarton alone is gorgeous but the fact that you open it and the artwork continues inside and matches the shade, I love the matte bottle to match the matte shade. I am just so into it, I love it; this is how good packaging is done. Formula: Most vital point about this lipstick...IT SMELLS LIKE FUCKING CREME BRULE! I just sat and sniffed for a good 5 minutes when I first opened it. Delicious. Nothing makes me want to put it on my lips more than a tasty smell *drools*! I would say that it is a tiny bit drying but my lips weren’t in the best shape, but no drier than a standard lipstick so for a matte? Wow. There is zero cracking, this feels like a second skin on my lips, so unchunky? It’s a gorgeous formula to wear, and it isn’t coming off at any point! 😂 Result: I love it, I am for it, I can’t wait to find a use for it! Win or Bin? Win Win Win! Dry, sheer, gross. #4 - @lorealmakeup "Bulletproof" Gloss - Unbearable stickiness! #2 - Amuse "Royalty" - it's Sheer!!! There's also some Nice Face Matte stuff in there but they were so horrible I actually wouldn't even post the photos. Chinese questionable makeup, this is why we don't buy! Also it's literally never cruelty free! Thing to note, not strictly true because a lot of the £1 lipsticks killed it! But where you source your makeup, it shows, and how much you spend can really make a huge difference, even if it's just a few quid more. I have shyed away from bargain makeup for sure, drugstore is great, will always be my boo, but bargains...no more!! #swatchmylips #17: Pudaier Matte Red something or other (I don’t really know, I don’t think it’s a real brand)... Price: Less than £1/$1! It’s trash, let’s be real, we can see it is in the picture, I got it on ebay from China so long ago it isn’t even in my purchase history; I expect nothing of this lipstick, god knows what’s in it. This is why we don’t buy cheap makeup from unknown sources. Colour: This is going to be a slightly funny review because I’ve already admitted that it’s trash, so anything I say either way is going to be overshadowed by that. The colour isn’t that nice to be honest, even for what it is, it’s kinda washed out, it covers the lips but it’s pastey...does that make sense? Packaging: This actually came with a unicarton, which is what 10% of the manufacturing cost? Should I take this seriously? It’s trash lipstick. The label isn’t even on straight! It calls itself “Gloss” for goodness sake! Formula: Can I leave it at that? Is that allowed. It’s clearly fucking horrible, its crackling, it applied terribly! I mean it’s matte, but is that really the matte you want? It’s full coverage but is that really what you want to cover your lips in. I rarely say this, but this devalued my lips, putting this trash on my lips was disrespectful to my mother who made me. It’s yuck, it’s gross, and who knows, it could be full of shit (literally, you never heard of all those chinese makeup scandals?) Result: This doesn’t even need a result, picture, 1000 words, and all that jazz. Win or Bin? #swatchmylips #17: @jeffreestarcosmetics “Jawbreaker” #VelourLiquidLip Price: £16/$18! We know what to expect of J*, it's got to be with me all day, not crispy, gorgeous pigment, full coverage. Let’s see how she fares and compares to the rest of the collection! Colour: It's Neon Pastel Blue which is exactly why I got it, I love “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” but this is so bright, in your face, so cool toned, and I love it. I look pale as a ghost and it is exactly the effect I’m looking for in dramatic colours. SO incredibly pigmented! It's not wearable but I think on a bunch of different skin tones it would create a huge range of effects, and I am for it. Makes me feel cold as ice so I love it. Packaging: @JeffreeStar kills it with the packaging, beautiful holographic unicarton, the product is weighty (a J* must) and it's so smooth to hold, definitely a gorgeous application, the applicator holds so much product, and fits to the lip perfectly, which really helps create a firm line without liner. I love this packaging, they look beautiful sitting on my vanity and this one certainly catches the eye! Formula: I was shocked when I first applied this, it wasn’t near as opaque as expected and when I added layers it just spread around. This might be a blue thing, the contrast from pink lips is so much it's gonna be hard to cover but once dry this shit is so full coverage it looks like I pasted my lips with Dulux, intense! It takes a wee while to dry (such is the way of mattes so easily smudged) but not remotely drying; my lips were a bit worn out but it comes out beautiful and not crusted AND it’ll last all day! Result: It isn’t my holy grail, I’m not going to grab it for a fancy dinner, but so ideal for creativity. I can’t wait to get dug in with this baby. Win or Bin? #swatchmylips Lipstick #16: @avon mark. Epic Lip “Wave Runner”, “Berry Bold” and “Extreme Mauve” Lip Samples 💀 Let the MLM memes begin (an Avon ad has popped up since starting this..) Price: £8 / $12 ! I got these for free (let’s be real I’m not buying MLM.) but normally would set you back £8 ! As a comparison I’d be looking for like basic Mac lipstick quality - I need reasonable stay, good coverage, basic but sleek packaging (obviously this is a sample, but I’ve seen the full size). Colour: I tried to get a variety, classic red, bright pink, and a crazy blue… First off mauve is a purple so this pink is neither extreme nor mauve though actually my favourite of the 3 - in the ad it’s bubblegum pink. The blue is barely there, weirdly white and nothing like the solid turquoise advertised (where’s these so called waves I’m supposed to run?) and the red is grossly pink. The pigment is basically non existent compared to the ad. Packaging: This was the best bit for me, these tiny ass samples. Arrived in mail, “what is dis” I say *open package* MAKEUP FOR TINY ANTS! I laughed for maybe 15 mins and regularly for the next 3 days. Most lipstick samples are shit but these are kinda fun. The actual packaging though is classic Avon, kind of plastic-y, meh, I get better from Technic. Formula: Weirdly, it doesn’t feel like lipstick, it’s kind of hard but slippy, it slides around. The coverage is virtually non existent. They advertise full coverage, all I see is sheer. SHEER! It’s so slimy its gone in seconds, it transferred as soon as I touched it. At least it smells pretty good. Result: Okay the pink and red aren’t the worst but nah, if I can buy better for £2 I am going for that not your nasty MLM. Win or Bin?
