Sara was threatened by a man with a dog - called the police
Mother of two toddlers, Sara Saadouni, was threatened because of her headscarf by a man with a German Shepherd. The man called her a "filthy bastard" and demanded to frisk her. Sara refused and was able to contact the police, who now suspect the man for threats. After the incident, Sara is too scared to go out alone on her usual evening walks.
25-year old Sara Saadouni was out on an evening walk on Friday in Gustavsberg outside of Stockholm, when a man with a German Shepherd started following her. Sara wears the hijab, which had made the man angry.
"He was shaking the dog my way and he looked really angry" she says.
Sara started to worry and asked the man what he wanted. He claimed he was a police officer and that his dog had reacted to Sara. He demanded to frisk her.
But Sara felt like his demands were strange and his behaviours were discomforting.
"I told him to show me his police ID" Sara explains. "But he claimed he wasn't carrying it."
Sara then asked him to let her go, but instead the man fired up even more.
"He shouted 'don't move from your spot you filthy swine'" she continues, and says the man commanded her to follow him.
"Watch yourself really damn carefully"
Subsequently the man attacked her for wearing the veil.
"He said 'Swedish police have no obligation to identify themselves to filthy fuckers with that kind of crap on their heads'. Then he told me to 'watch myself really damn carefully, because soon the Sweden Democrats will be the biggest party in Sweden and then you won't have any more rights'" she explains.
Then she suggests that they call the police so that someone on duty can come to the site and straighten what has happened. But the man refuses, and instead he releases the leash on the dog and starts moving towards Sara.
"The dog stood up and started growling, and I thought the man was going to hit me" she says.
Suspected for crime
Sara warns the man someone could will get hurt and asks him to back off. The man stops and turns back. Sara has her handsfree in the ear and calls the police without the threatful man noticing, while she continues to talk to him. The EMD understands what is going on and connects her to the police.
However, the police does not understand the situation and eventually Sara has no choice but to clearly explain what has happened.
"I broke down and I explained everything to the police" she says.
The man starts screaming that he in fact did not claim he was a police officer. A couple of minutes pass before a police patrol has reached the site.
The Nacka area police confirm that the man, who is in his 30s, is suspected for criminal impersonation and assault.
"Too scared to go out on evening walks"
The attack has left Sara exhausted.
"The following Saturday I could barely get up. I was so shocked and scared that this affected me this much physically" she explains.
Sara is currently studying to be a lawyer and simultaneously works at a women's shelter. She has two kids and used to go out on evenings walks to relax. Now she does not dare to go outside alone.
"It's been really though. I've asked my husband if he could follow me on my walks. I'm too scared to go alone" she says.
And this is almost a week after the Swedish elections, where the Sweden Democrats (a racist, sexist and homophobic anti-immigration party) managed to become the third biggest party in the country. This is absolutely fucking disgusting.
