When was the last time he'd awoken in such pain? Surely it hadn't been since he was a child. That couldn't have been the last time. Sidian didn't groan or shift, stir from the collapsed and curled position his large frame had taken after being beaten and thrown back into the cold cage he was to be kept in. If this wasn't some sort of test it was certainly something cruel and wrathful but Sidian couldn't believe this was all the work of one person. He had many enemies in the world, both by inheritance from his father and his own decisions. There weren't many, though, that could catch the earth witch off guard and that made Sidian suspect the man at the top of his long list of enemies; Matthias. It was probable the older witch was to blame but Sidian didn't remember much from the attack, flashes of images danced in his muddled brain as he tried to gather his thoughts before opening his eyes.

What Sidian did know was that this place was unlike any he'd ever known to exist, there was a mixture of strong magics that worked in sync with one another to bind his powers, strip the witch of his essence and strength. Though he could feel the cold ground beneath him Sidian couldn't reach out past it, feel into the earth and sense the roots of plants he was sure would aid him. An emptiness filled him instead, a weakness stilled the tall man, his body aching, branded and collared, secured for his strength was great if he were to ever break out of these magic bonds. Troubling more than his situation was the fact he really hadn't felt so helpless since childhood threatened to take him back to the time he was powerless against his father. But Sidian gritted his teeth and finally moved, long limbs stretching and pushing against the ground until he was sitting, heavy lids dragged open over tired dark eyes, a bruise touching more than the skin across his left jaw from the guards who had to beat him down before they branded him, the collar not enough to cut off his connection to the magic of earth.

It was a perfect night to be out, the moon was high and bright in the clear sky, Devon would even dare to say that it was warmer than normal, for December, anyways. With his leather jacket hanging open the tall man shifted forward a bit into the opening of the clearing, wincing slightly before he flashed a smile to cover up his wince. “I’ll tell you what, the kids are very moody tonight.” A joke at the fact he’d run into a disgruntled person who lost to him a few nights ago in another race on his way over to meet the other, hence the busted lip and slightly bruised cheek, he hadn't taken that much damage. It hadn't really been a fight, seeing as the pissed off loser didn't get a second chance to hit Devo.  “Thanks for coming, I figured you wouldn’t mind getting in trouble on a night like this.” His grin broadened and he glanced past the other into the trees, the sounds of what he knew to be a secret street race getting ready to start.

A focused gaze moved from his hands as they paused in action, there was a disturbance among his plants and they shifted, whispering to him words that made his brow furrow. Putting down his tools the witch slipped away from the plant he’d been working on and turned his gaze towards the door, it wasn’t open but what his plants had said to him believe someone would be walking through it at any time now. “Are you sure?” He questioned, stepping closer to the vine plant which stretched out to reach him, slipping his hand against the plant as if it were a pet, his gaze still on the door. Still occupied with gently stroking the plant which wound itself along his arm, affectionate and sincere, Sidian nodded in understanding as the plant drew back reluctantly. “So she found me...” He huffed a bitter breath through his nose, shifting back to his project, Sidian knew she’d join him shortly, might as well hide the saplings before she did.

"You caught me at a good time," Remy called as she padded in from her kitchen into the living area where she had left the other waiting. Her lips pulled over white teeth in a broad and nearly flirty smile as she held up two glasses and a bottle of whisky in the other hand, pausing just next to the couch. "-- I was just about to have a couple drinks and listen to some of my grand daddy's old vinyls, you're welcome to join... I will say though, he liked the blues." She shifted a little, holding their gaze before she moved to set the two glasses down on the coffee table. Her next steps took her across the living room to where a very nice sound system sat, a record player in the midst. Remy opened the sliding doors on the wooden shelving unit the sound system resided in, running her slender fingers over the sleeves of the old vinyls until she stopped on a whim and gently plucked out a record to put on. A moment later dancy blues scratched to life through the speakers at a nice background level and Remy couldn't help but dance her way back on barefeet to pour the two of them a drink.

"I wouldn't say that," Brody said with the motion of his hand as if gesturing would get his point across better, his head shook a little as he laid back across the others lap, his legs propped up at the end of the couch. He watched Cat for a moment before his blue eyes snapped over to the joint between his fingers, there was a pause where he took a deep drag and ashed the thing before Brody offered it to Catlin. "I do think you're pretty obsessed with me though." The shifter added with the slightest twitch of his lips at one corner, his fingers lingering against Catlin's because the statement was certainly true for him as well. Brody wouldn't call it obsession but it was likely some would with how often the vampire consumed his mind. But then again, perhaps Brody only felt that way because of how shook he was from just how much he felt for Catlin.

His hands found their place against Catlin's hips rather smoothly, sliding over the curve to grip and pull the other closer with more than just amusement dancing across his lips and shadowing the blue eyes that slowly roved over Catlin. The distraction was welcome and it was no little secret how quickly Brody became stirred by the vampire. "Hmmm," the shifter hummed, tongue flicking out to wet his lips while Brody tilted his head as if he were contemplating Catlin's words. "-- hungry, are we?" He asked in that same hummed out tone, a single brow arching while his teeth drug against his bottom lip thoughtfully and he nodded slowly a few times, approvingly. "Go ahead and eat me right up, baby."
