(Katherine’s POV)

I woke up to the sound of my phone buzzing on my bed side table. It was 5:30 on a Saturday morning and I didn’t know anybody that would have a reason to call at this time. I reached over and saw Harry’s name lighting up on my phone and I smiled.

“Hello?” I answered.

“Hey babe! You have an hour to get ready before I come pick you up, don’t be late!” he hung up.

I had no idea why he wants me to get up so early or where we were going. I hopped into the shower and curled the ends of my hair. I applied a subtle amount of makeup and wore a black and white sweater with some worn out jeans (here). I checked the clock, 6:20, ten minutes before Harry got here.

(Harry’s POV)

I was so excited to take Katherine out today. We’ve been friends ever since we were 6 and today was the day I was going to ask her to go out with me. I didn’t know if she liked me as much as I liked her but I was confident in myself. My hands slightly trembled on the steering wheel as I drove to her house. I reached for my phone to text her but she was already tapping on the glass of the passenger’s seat for me to open the door. I smiled and opened it for her. She looked amazing, her sweater was a little too big but it fit her perfectly, her hair sat on her shoulders beautifully, her makeup was simple, how I liked it. She had natural beauty and I hated when she caked on makeup. Her voice broke my thoughts, “Harry, where are we going? I hope it was worth waking up this early.” She giggled as she lightly punched my arm. “You’ll see, it’s somewhere special, I promise.” She just smiled as she sat back in the leather seat.

(Katherine’s POV)

Harry looked very attractive today, his hair pulled back by his beanie, his black v-neck contouring his perfect chest and stomach, his jeans slightly sagged. I’ve always liked Harry, obviously since we’ve been friends for so long, but lately I’ve liked him more than a friend. I could never tell him though, it’d ruin our friendship. We rode in his Range Rover for about 20 minutes listening to the soft sound of The Beatles playing on his radio. We finally pulled up at what looked like woods from a horror scene. “Erm, Harry where are we?” I spoke out. He didn’t say anything but only smiled at me as he grabbed my hand and lead me through the bushes. We ended up in a large patch of grass with a blanket and basket set in the middle.

“All for you Katherine.” He turned to me and smiled, pulling me into a tight hug. I couldn’t help but smile like an idiot as he started pulling out muffins and other breakfast foods out of the basket. “Harry, you didn’t have to go through this for me.” I blushed as he shushed me. “I wanted to, you deserved it.” I hugged him and we began eating, he kept looking down at his hands, which he fumbled with quite often. “Harry, are you okay? Is there something wrong?” He took a deep breath and looked up at me.

“Katherine, I-I think I’m in love with you.” I saw the sincerity in his eyes as he searched my face for a response. This was the thing I’ve wanted to hear the most, this changed everything.

“You know what, forget it. I was stupid to day that, pretend I never asked you.” He turned to look the other way, fumbling with his hands again. “No no, Harry” I reached over and put his hand in mine, “I think I love you too, I think I’ve loved you since we first met but I never wanted to say anything. I thought it was just a little crush I had when I was a kid, but it’s not. I’ve liked you for a really long time, I just never thought you liked me back.”

His face lit up and he put his hand on my cheek. “You have no idea how long I was waiting to hear that. I love you so much Katherine.” He slowly leaned in and I felt his soft lips press against mine. We moved in sync and I knew this was really meant to be. He slowly pulled away and put his arm around me. We laid on the blanket and watched the sunrise. It was worth getting up after all.
