hello, sol! 🤍 how are you?
what do think about fem!sanemi? i know it's not your thing, you've said it before! but if you have any thoughts about her, what would they be?
have a good day!!!
I think in terms of dynamic making Sanemi a woman shifts Sanemi & Genya’s dynamic a lot
One of the main points of Sanemi & Genya’s relationship is that while Sanemi played arguably the most active role in raising Genya, and Genya acknowledges that if Kyogo were like a true father he would be like Sanemi, Genya still does not view Sanemi as a father, citing “he babied me but who would baby him?” (Paraphrasing, but still)
And a lot of Sanemi & Genya’s dynamic heavily relies on “big brother & little sister / “dad and mom” imo, with Sanemi stepping up to the plate to work with their mother to bring in income (dad, stepping up as man of the house) and Genya from the glimpses we see in the light novels/flashbacks and bits and pieces of official arts, stayed back to help a lot with the children; aka “mom”
(Which is to say that’s pretty much the no.1 reason I genderbend Genya, I enjoy Genya’s femininity and his old role in the family that is traditionally feminine as a male character and appreciate it in a male. However. Pretty girl.)
But if you were to reverse it I think that it would shift their relationship much more to a parent-child dynamic, you might argue that with Sanemi as a woman, she would have felt the obligation to take on the “dad” and “mom” role, devoting more of her time to babying/raising Genya and the others than in canon with male Sanemi letting Genya shoulder some of the work. (And also because * Shizu as the actual mother is too busy working no matter what gender you bend lol. )
I’m sure Genya would still have the “I wanted to step up and shoulder the burden” goal, but I also think in my personal opinion it would have also become: “my sister was my mother figure and I feel indebted to her and guilty over what I said”
That’s pretty much the only thing I think of when I consider fem!nemi, while I enjoy the concept of fem!genya more I’m not against the reverse :) to each to their own and such, and more pretty women to look at hehe.
