By @alaskafitmomma "Welcome to Week 2, Day 1 of the #SWEETMayMashup challenge! It's #CrossFit week and we're starting with a basic, but crucial, move....SQUATS! The video shows you how to do a full squat with good form: keep your weight in your heels, send your hips back first (before bending your knees), keep your chest up, and let your hips drop below the crease of your hips ("below parallel"). The still pictures show you some common errors. Bending your knees before sending your hips back (upper left) causes you to lean forward to your toes. Letting your knees cave inward (upper right) is super hard on your knees! Make sure you are constantly pushing your knees out! Leaning forward (bottom left) is very common thanks to all the time we spend sitting. This just takes time and flexibility to fix. Only go as deep as you can into the squat maintaining an upright chest. Caving in at the bottom of the squat (bottom right) is similar to the last problem. Pulling your arms above your head can help you fight that natural tendency to lean forward. If you're giving this challenge a try be sure to tag me so I can encourage you!! Check back later tonight or tomorrow morning for tomorrow's challenge! And be sure to check out @runninmama26_2 for a modification! #SWEETworkoutAmbassador #whatcomfortzone #trysomethingnew #backtobasics" via @PhotoRepost_app
