By @alaskafitmomma "Week 2, Day 3 of the #SWEETMayMashup #CrossFit challenge....#Pushups. Another fundamental movement that many people struggle with for a variety of reasons. Here are some keys to a good RX pushup: ➡️ Keep your core tight! Don't let your stomach sag, be sure to squeeze your butt, and push through your heels to keep your legs actively engaged. ➡️ Hand placement. It's kind of a personal preference whether your arms are in close to your chest (military style, works the triceps more), or spread wider like mine (works the chest more.) Generally for Xfit we tend to use the wider stance. ➡️ Hand release pushups are a great way to make sure you are getting the FULL RANGE OF MOTION....which most people don't get. Your chest needs to touch the floor in a pushup. Yes, every time! ➡️ If you need to modify....modify! However, don't drop to your knees as your first modification! Find a chair, a bench, a box or something that you can put your hands on and do an incline pushup. This is MUCH more effective than dropping to your knees.
