Climbing Harder Klum

This hike was scary. I was not expecting how scared I got while hiking. This went from enjoyable to realizing I wasn't on a safe trail. The snow got up to my waist on the sides, with the trail up to my knees. It was dangerously close to the edge, and I couldn't tell what was going to be solid ground or just snow beneath my feet. Before, the trail had been fine.

I was SCARED. I havent ever been scared while hiking. The trail got so narrow that I was too scared to try and turn around, and i also knew I wouldn't be able to keep it together if I had to go back down that way. I knew there was a second trail at the summit so I kept going.

I am proud of how calm I stayed, but I wanted to panic. I wanted to cry and freak out, but I knew it wouldn't help. So I got to the summit, but at that point, I was scared about going down. I ate my sandwich, admired the view, and then gave myself a pep talk. The second trail down was MUCH better. It was not so narrow, there wasn't bankments of snow, and I could clearly see the trail.

It was really icy though, so I walked really carefully. I'm glad I saw people right after leaving the summit because that calmed me down immensely. And then I kept seeing someone every so often on the way down which helped a lot. (Also one of them told me a girl had passed them running down the trail. Covered in ice. Who is she, Frozone's daughter??)
