You know the whole idea that maybe everyone has a secret witch power, it's just so small in its benefit that it isn't seen as magic? Maybe a bus always seems to be there when you need one. Maybe your childhood goldfish lived to thirty despite its sad carnival origins. Maybe you open books to right where you left off, no dogears or bookmarks. Little witchy things.
I favor science, I consider myself a scientist, but I understand the God of the Gaps, the scientific non-deity that boils down to "there are things we still just do not understand and do not have answers for, and to progress in discussion, it is necessary to admit that which we can't yet fathom, and to embrace shared experience as wonderers and wanderers in this world".
So I believe it to be true, the small powers. Ghibli magic. I believe it.
One of those witch powers lies in the perfect application of a screen protector.
Putting it against the glass and calmly, slowly letting it mate to it, each guide fitting to each corner, not a single air bubble or speck of dust, nothing but the soundless slide of a thumbnail along the person side of the matter, shepherding the bright clarity of the place between protector and protected along the device until it disappears amiably off the side. One movement. A joining of what should be to what is, seamlessly, effortlessly.
A small power. A small boon. A scene and sign of patience, and diligence, that speaks to the fact that even the most mundane and inanimate of things can be listened to, and by that listening, impossibly, they listen back, and know enough to heed a balanced power that is unfathomable, but benevolent.
Cauldron, make porridge.
Broom, sweep the floor.
Glass, lay flat.
A witch-power of small goddes.
I believe it to be true.
If you are that person, please DM me, there is a whole ass cat hair between me and my Switch right now and I would pay for your services bountifully
