Hey Miru! :3 The last couple days I've been very confused about some Once-ler fandom AU stuff and I thought you'd maybe have the answers! ^^ I must apologize in advance as this is a very long and confusing ask, I'm so sorry ;o;

I've been very into the Thneedville High/Thornville High AU for about four months now, esspecially Swoncest, and just One and Swag in general xD. I have always been a little confused about why it was called both "Thneedville High" and "Thornville High" and I somehow just realized Thronville High is the Deoncelerized version. This lead me to realize that almost all of the OCs/Askblogs were Deoncelerzied too, including Swag and One.

The reason I was so confused by all this was because 1, I've seen the tags "Thneedville High" and "Thornville High" on the exact same posts. 2, similar thing with character and ship tags (ex. the tag Teen One on both teenage One-ler posts, and One post deoncelerzation posts, or the way One and Swag's ship name is the exact same even after being deoncelerized, I've even seen the oncest tag on swoncest posts). Those kind of make it seem like the AUs and the characters are the same. 3, many characters look/act very similar before and after deoncelerization, and 4, my fellow new Oncelings seems just as confused as me xD.

I've honestly been a little stressed about it because I've drawn these characters before (Swag and One), looking rather "Oncelerish" and tagged them with Once-ler tags and the deoncelerized tags. I now realize I'm not sure which version of the characters I was even drawing; deoncelerized or not. That worries me because I would hate to accidentally disrespect these characters or their mods.

So I thought I would ask you 1, is it alright to draw deoncelerized characters in their classic Onceler forms as long as you clarify that they're in Onceler form and are no longer Oncelers? 2, are these characters considered to be different versions of the same character ("Once-ler Version/Non-Onceler Version", like an AU sort of), or are they completely removed? 3, can things that happened in the Thornville AU be considered canon in the Thneedville AU? For does teen One-ler love bears as much as deoncelerized One? Or would Swaggler in the Thneedville AU also own a music studio like deoncelerized Swag in Thronville? Like if the Thneedville AU had continued instead of turning into Thornville basically? 4, is there an easy way to tell post and pre deoncelerization characters apart?

Hi Adia! No worries about the long ask xD I'll try to answer as best I can.

So yes, Thornville High is the deoncelerized AU name for Thneedville High. They are the same AU, just renamed at some point due to pretty much everyone deoncelerizing their characters at around the same time.

One of the reasons that you can find posts tagged with both names is purely for organizational purposes. So for example, since the AU was originally named Thneedville High, all my earlier reblogs of that AU were tagged as only "#thneedville high". Then after the fandom decided to change the name to Thornville, I started tagging all the posts that came after as "#thornville", but I would continue to ALSO tag them as "#thneedville high" so that if I want to see ALL posts I've ever reblogged from this AU (and yes it is all one AU, more on that later), I could just click on the "#thneedville high" tag on my blog instead of only getting half the posts if I hadn't tagged them all with a common tag.

Another reason that you may see posts tagged with both tags is so that it would be less confusing during the transitional period of deoncelerization. Not everyone kept up with everything all the time so if the tag just changed overnight then some people would've been lost if they were still only following the thneedville high tag.

And then a third reason for posts continuing to be tagged as "#thneedville high" is for the familiarity and reach. For example, I still tag all my Audrey art posts with "#the lorax" tag and occasionally even with the "#onceler" tag even when there is barely any visual connection to the original movie in the post (even tho the movie events are still canon for her). This is because I know these are the tags that people are going to search for, and it's how I can get more people to look at my art. Anyway it's the same for Thornville; I'd bet anything that more people follow the "#thneedville high" tag than they do the "#thornville" tag because many of them were just casual fans.

And so with these above reasons in mind, you can apply that to all the other things you mentioned, like character nicknames and ship names staying the same after deoncelerization.

So now to answer the questions at the end of your ask (and I even had One and Swag's mods confirm it all for me on discord):

Yes, don't worry, the mods are totally fine with people drawing One and Swag as Once-lers, and you don't even have to clarify that they're not Once-lers anymore in your post because they don't mind the association. You can do whatever you want!

At least for One and Swag, apart from getting a different name and maybe a slight appearance change, they're the same characters before and after deoncelerization, with the same personality, and everything that was roleplayed while they were oncelers is still canon to their stories after getting deoncelerized. So it's all one big continuation, and not a separate version or AU.

Pretty much answered this just above! They're the same AU, just with a name change.

Some characters pre and post deoncelerization are easy to tell apart if the mod decided to change up their look more drastically, but for One and Swag, not really.

Keep in mind that by the time deoncelerization happened, everyone's characters were pretty much already very far removed from the original 2012 onceler personality, so it wasn't hard at all to just give them a different name and a slightly different look and continue rping like normal. :3 But we understand the confusion especially if you weren't there while it was happening!

I have this (completely uncanon) AU in my head, where the Thneedville High AU becomes a college AU and Swag and One share a dorm room. So that's their dorm room (that I'm aware is way bigger than real dorm rooms, lol). I made this back in August when I thought Swag LOVED Kesha, turns out it's more of a love/HATE thing so he may have too many Kesha posters, sorry about that bahahaha. And I just tried guessing at what kind of music and bands One would like. :')
