The apartment stands silent and still. Then, the door violently opens and a very grumpy Turquoise enters, bag slung over her back. She is scowling slightly as she drops her bag by the entrance, whilst closing the door behind her. A slight aggravated mumble of “That was a bad idea.” escapes her lips as she sinks into her sofa. It’s getting late and she hasn’t had dinner yet but she doesn’t really care. Trying out some weapons she hadn’t ever used had strained her sanity slightly and she had stopped counting how many times she had been splatted after a while. Chargers were frustrating to use. Never again.
Radcliffe was off doing some shifts at Grizzco. The place was a bit sketchy, but it paid rent. Most days, she steered away from it, but when money was tight, she hadn’t much of a choice. She might have to hit the place up sometime, because as friendly as Sheldon was, his prices were not.
She’d forgotten how lonely Inkopolis Square could be sometimes and she found herself thinking of home. It had been such a long time, she felt, but going back now wouldn’t really help much. At least she can remember...
It is an early Saturday morning...as she comes into the living room she sees her younger sister, Kit. She is laid on the floor...drawing something in crayon. It appears to be some kind of inkling, who is wearing what appears to be swimming gear.
“What’s that?”, she asks.
“Swoomy!”, Kit replies, as if this perfectly explains everything.
“Who’s Swoomy? What do they do?”, she queried.
“Swoomy’s my imaginary friend! She can swim in water AND fly!”, her little sister energetically responds, as if the last bit was the impossible part.
Turquoise chuckles. “She sounds like fun.”
“She is.” Kit responds with a grin.
That wasn’t the last time “Swoomy” showed her face, Turquoise thinks fondly. The imaginary inkling was a constant companion, Kit loved her so much that Mum made a little plushie of her for her. It never left her side and she had it when Turquoise left. She wonders if Kit still has it.
Her musing was interrupted by her empty stomach grumbling. With a sigh, she goes to fix dinner. Maybe one day, when she’s brave enough, she’ll try and get in contact with her family again...
Just a little something I had an idea of for a while. I forgot to mention Turquoise gets a little cranky every once in a while (Nobody’s perfect.) If anyone’s interested with how I came up with Swoomy, it was just something that popped into my head while I was messing around. Maybe more on the test subjects at the weekend.
