Oh, Sofa, I definitely feel this in my bones. I usually have to function on anywhere from 2 to 6 hours because of my own insomnia, and I can tell you from experience that the jump from 6 down to 2 is where the fatigue really turns into a brick wall.

To answer your question: yes, it’s technically possible to function, but you’re definitely not going to be at 100%. Your brain on 4.5 hours is basically running in "low power mode." You aren't doomed, but you're definitely playing the day on hard mode.

You’re totally right about it warping how you see others. When you're underslept, your amygdala (the emotional center) gets hyper-reactive, while the part of your brain that handles logic (the prefrontal cortex) slows down. This makes it way harder to read social cues, so you might think someone is annoyed with you when they’re actually just tired themselves.

Because that logical part of the brain is lagging, you’re more likely to be impulsive or get frustrated by small things that wouldn't normally bother you.

The following is the big one for people like us. Sleep is when your body regulates inflammation and repairs tissue. When you skip it, your nervous system stays on high alert, which can absolutely make chronic pain or other symptoms feel much more intense.

I have mastered the art of the 20 minute power nap. If I do nap, I try to keep it around 20 minutes. This is so I don't fall into a deep sleep cycle and wake up feeling hit by a truck.

hello! just wondering: why did you feel the need to tag scars as a content warning? to me, they're simply bits of healed skin; they aren't open wounds, and most people have them.

Idk, triggers are weird sometimes and I feel weirdly obligated to tag anything anyone may need to filter out. Even if no one's ever brought it up as a trigger. May not be the healthiest impulse tbh. I may have to cut down on how many times I do it just so I'm not constantly stressing over if anyone needs a tag filtered. If anyone needs scars tagged, they can msg me but idk

re: the "if you're a minor, no matter your age, experience, and/or maturity, you're still just your parent's organism" post ->. yeah. the only thing I disagree on is the "parents being able to override kids' consent when it comes to vaccines", and. partially. (typing weird bc brain fog). I.e. kids not wanting to get pricked by a needle but their parents overruling that -> for their safety. although yeah. 'tis a complicated issue. not much bandwidth to talk, but wanted to share thoughts. hope sickness fading.

(also 'safety' meaning 'invasion of privacy' sometimes.. words sketchy. reasoning superseding results).

just got a 'accidentally reported your account' ask. it seemed real so I answered it, then panicked, blocked them, and deleted the ask. I haven't broken tumblr's terms of service. do you have any advice? ':I

I’m really glad you reached out. Take a breath first. You did the right thing by blocking and deleting the ask. These accidentally reported your account messages are a very common Tumblr scam, and panic is exactly what they rely on. Panic typically makes people react quickly. Blocking and deleting was the right thing to do.

I don't know if you clicked on any links or gave any personal info (like password, etc).

If you did not click any links and did not give them any information You’re fine. Full stop.

Tumblr does not handle reports through asks, DMs, or third-party links. If there were a real issue, you’d receive an official email from Tumblr or even a notice on the dash. Blocking and deleting was exactly the correct response, and there’s nothing else you need to do.

If you did click a link or enter information (email, password, etc.)

Immediately change your Tumblr password (and your email password if it’s the same or similar). I would take this further and change the password on any accounts of different sites that have the same or similar password (FYI: don't have the same password on different sites)

Log out of all sessions in your Tumblr security settings. This is how to see if there is any suspicious connections to your account: tumblr.com/settings/account. Only what browser / mobile you are using > IP city > session date should show on this.

Check your account email and settings, if you use the same password for your email. I tend to change my email password every 5 months since my email was once 'brute-forced' into.

Even in that scenario, acting quickly usually prevents any damage.

Myself, I fell for an AO3 troll scam a few weeks ago that caused me to feel horrible about myself. We mess up, sometimes.

Just a heads up, @armchair-pirate got me sick over Christmas and heading back to sleep, so I might be offline for a bit. Everything will be okay. The most important things for you to do right now is to change password and log out all sessions, so you brute force logouts.

the new tomodachi life game reminds me of COTL (in terms of follower/villager[?]/NPC interactions lol. (and their dubious accuracy). saying this with the assumption that you have it/have played it, but. if you do - would you say it's worth getting?

I actually don't have it because I don't have a Switch lol. I just think its funny as fuck. The cozy game I've been playing is Hello Kitty Island Adventure so! But yeah that game seems fun. I am just harsh about Nintendo and their company's shenanigans with people owning their Switches and games.
