Memorial site of Thomas Hunton Swope, philanthropist. He granted more than 1700 acres of land to Kansas City, Missouri for use as public park land. He was buried here on a ridge, overlooking the park.

Head end collision between a passenger train and a freight train near Kansas City, Mo on July 12,1922 resulting in the death of 3 passengers and 1 employee and the injury of 91 passengers,10 employees and 2 mail clerks. The accident was caused by the failure of the crew of the passenger train to obey a train order establishing a meeting point. The accident occurred near Hy-tex siding on a single track line over which trains are operated by time table train orders and a manual block signal system.
