I just realized something in skeleton crew, the middle school the kids wear different colors sweaters

Like Wim and Neel are in blue, but fern and KB are in red, and in the background there are kids in yellow

Is that a social class or something

Like Fern is "on top" like her mother says, so red, Wim and Neel in blue because they look middle class

Or maybe it's something to do with what career the parents have, like government red or something

Why do they have different colors?
