I have no intention of actually posting here or keeping up on things. I use wordpress as my main source of sharing across the internet. Only reason I have this now is to get in contact with a few people who are practically impossible to find by any other means aside Tumblr.

Warning for some violence near the end.
Word count: ~4000
——————————
Kaas City was stuck in an overcast sky, as usual, but no rain and thunder; nothing violent besides a mild chilled breeze bustling about the tall towers and busy people. It warranted a coat, or cape, or shawl, but nothing too heavy. One of these lightly dressed people, covered in bright crimson silks and plush velvets, was making her way outside the city limits and towards a speeder station; the red fabrics blowing about her like a tamed fire. These clothes would only blow more once she was mounted to the vehicle, speeding off into the dark forests of the Imperial planet and towards the not so far off civilian hangers; not minding how they whipped about her small frame.
Indeed she did not seem to care if she stood out like a sore thumb nor for her outfits disarray as she arrived to the hangers, face covered by a dark mask and adjusting her robes to a presentable state. She merely nodded to herself and moved on, a mission underfoot and pounding in her mind. This small stranger was on her way to seek out an acquaintance, a goon, hired by her employer to deliver a very special package. She would gain a report, give credit where due, and move on to other tasks for her day.
Or at least that how she had planned things to go.
“A23... A24... A25.” She stopped at the 25th elevator and hopped aboard, tanned hands moving to dial at the holo-controls. With a hiss and hum the doors were closed and the woman was sent upwards to the bay she needed. It didn’t take along, with a ding confirming her choice. Metal doors slid open and the figure walked out, looking about to see if her target would be waiting here or at his ship. “...”
He was, indeed, waiting there. The Twi’lek, of short stature, had managed to distract himself with the various advertisements on the walls, news, and notices of the wildlife in the Kaas jungles. Unlike his usual more flamboyant attire, the alien was clad in a long, black coat that was a little too big for him, and a wide brim hat with a scarf over half his face. His shiny metal feet, of course, still peeked out under all that. One could hear him muttering to himself as he read parts of the signs aloud to to keep himself focused. He didn’t have to be Force sensitive to be affected by the oppressive fear and dread that the planet gave off.
“... Hm.” A “smile” could have almost been heard in her short grunt, moving over to the Twi’lek with soft taps of her heeled shoes. She approached him quietly, softly, the tiny voice coming through her mask’s filter with mild static. “I would not pay them much mind if I were you. Much too depressing.” She was at his side, slim hands holding on another in a relaxed manner as her hazel eyes under the black visor put on the male; the “smile” remaining in each syllable.
The Twi’lek nearly leapt a foot in the air but just managed to contain himself at the last moment, only visibly getting startled. He laughed rather abruptly and looked at the person at his side to scan their face briefly with his crimson eyes, but was caught off guard again by the mask and had both an urge to pull his gaze away and yet keep it there. Taking a deep breath, Tooth opted to keep looking.
“The, um, vinecats, ma’am?” He asked sheepishly, even his energy was somewhat depleted on this grim world.
“Anything you see there.” Her head turned away from the Twi’lek and nodded to the passing vids, pictures, interviews, warnings; overly flashing colors and data littered with only 5% of the truth. “You’ll never know this planet's true poison by taking in the garbage they feed you on these screens, nor any of its hidden treasures.” Speaking of treasures, time to reveal one. Those slender, lean fingers moved to the mask, released the clamps, and brought away the façade to bring forth the Zabrak’s blonde hair and happy face. Large eyes blinked with heavy dark lashes, button nose wiggled as it was given room to do so, and deep scars blushing into the bay’s light. “It is still good to see you again Tooth... I hope the trip faired you well?”
“Oh! Um,” Tooth grinned behind his own scarf and looked back to the posters and network screens. “It’s nice to see you too, miss lady! The trip was, um, just fine.” The Twi’lek nodded and fiddled with his slightly-too-long coat sleeves.
“Hm.” A nod was what she gave as another greeting, one of her small hands reaching to his shoulder and patted lightly. “Come away then, we have words to exchange.” Malanah turned to walk away, going over to a small seating area.
Her straight golden hair moved about as she removed the silk scarf about her neck and shoulders, silver capped horns catching on the hood slightly as it too was removed, letting loose the small silver chains to dangle on her lined features. She was a handmaiden, a proper Lady in many aspects, and that went right with upkeeping her beauty; despite the scars that ran all along the let side of her face. She stopped, turned, and waited for Tooth to join her; bright eyes staring at his chin.
Tooth blinked a few times and nodded, curiously trying to get another good look at her without actually looking at her. It was even harder than it sounded. He put his hands in his pockets and walked over to join Malanah, rocking on his heels a little before sitting down. A little twitchy and flighty, he wasn’t at all his usual self on Kaas and had to keep reminding himself to breathe almost as if it had become a manual task. Inhale. Exhale. Repeat.
Once Tooth was seated she joined him, sitting very close for several reasons; one - to blend in, and two - personal that way. It may be business, but this man was going to be part of her daily routines, it was only logical that she would attempt to be close. With that in mind she took note of his unusual breathing, brow ridges angling upwards in mild worry; a tick catalogued for later reference. “... Master Tooh, are you sure your trip was alright? You seem exhausted, or overburdened. What troubles you?” After spending most of her life with Sith and the dark forces of the galaxy the Handmaiden had become immune to any lingering mental or physical stressed when surrounded by the drowning pressures. “Do you require water? A light snack, perhaps?”
“Um, maybe some water?” Tooth smiled a little nervously and shook his head, adjusting his coat a little and finally pulling the scarf down from his own scarred face, fixing it around his neck. “I think it’s just the, um, planet? The trip was okay. Customs was a little annoying even with the, um, papers and things,” he chuckled, but couldn’t quite hide the effects the planet had on him. He was but a tiny Twi’lek.
At the request Malanah moved into her small side satchel, rooting around for a second or so and found the water flask. She carried the bag with her everywhere, on her Mistress’ request; just in case of emergencies. She gave the shiny metallic tube a little wiggle to make sure it was decently full for a nice swig, got the splashing sound she wanted, and held over the flask to Tooth; shiny, clean, painted nails glittering somewhat in the dim lights.
“Then on behalf of the planet’s terrible hospitality I must ask your forgiveness. Would my employer have our meetings put on any other planet I would be more then willing to flex to your needs. I can... supply you with a sedative, should it help?” Her hand went to feel his shoulder again, every so once in awhile sending up her round doe eyes to his face in order to determine his comfort level.
“Thank you,” Tooth nodded and accepted the flask, taking a couple swigs before handing it back, wiping his mouth with his sleeve. He looked around the hangar a little and and shook his head. “Um, I think I can manage, but thanks. I don’t have to stick around, um, too long at least. Yeah?”
“Not long at all once the review is completed.” Down to business. The Zabrak went back to her pack to replace the flask of water with a datapad, drawing up the needed file. With a sudden serious tone she began. “First I will need to know at what hour did you make the drop and how fared the condition of the cargo. Secondly, how did the recipient seem? Lively? Happy? Curious? Thirdly, after receiving the cargo how did the recipient seem? Overly emotional? Thrilled? Un-Pleased?” While asking Malanah kept gazing from her work to Tooth, little fingers tapping quickly with precise skill and pinpoint accuracy; as if she did this for a living, which in truth was not all far fetched.
The Twi’lek listened intently, doing his utmost to keep focused; this, however, was not his best talent. He stares ahead, mostly, as he answers the Zabrak’s questions: “I, um, arrived at the designated time and met the, uh, pretty recipient. About eighteen-hundred hours, um, galactic standard time.” Tooth brought one of his lekku forward over his shoulder and just held the end of it, obviously for comfort.
“The cargo, um, made it just fine. The travel was maybe a little rough, but um, I’ll be much more careful,” he continued, frowning a little at his own mistakes. “The recipient was very happy. Sh–They, um, cried a little. Um, from happiness, not because I did anything.” Tooth swung his feet, letting the heels click against the floor; sitting still was also not one of his best talents.
“Good, good.” Malanah let out a small smile at hearing Tooth’s words, giving small nods here and there as he spoke and she typed. She was attempting to go as fast as possible, not only for time’s sake but Tooth’s. She had seen this type of behavior in impatient children a few times, not wanting to keep him unsettled any longer then needed. “And finally... how was their departure? Were they seen safely to their next destination, or simply let go to their own doings?”
“Oh um. Uh.” Tooth stopped moving just for a moment to think, and then started up again, and tugged lightly at his lekku. “Um, I drove them to a more secure locale. But it was a, um, direct taxi route from spaceport to spaceport so, um,” he fidgets a little, looking at Malanah a little worried.
“I see... Next time my employer would wish you see the recipient to and from one point of safety to the next. You will receive a bonus on top of the basic fee for complying. For now,” With another dive into her bag in went the datapad and out came a small silver container, filled with yet another tip of sorts, “I hope this will be sufficient. It is a personal thanks for achieving high records on the review. With it, and a renewal-prenup for another drop, you are free to go.” She smiled and set her eyes at Tooth’s chin once more, holding out the little credit crate to him.
Tooth made something akin to a sad puppy expression, but took the crate. “Yeah, um, I’ll be sure to transport the recipient both ways next time. S-sorry about that.”
“You are forgiven.” Once the crate was taken from her hands the tiny woman rose from her chair, a gentle expression set on her face as she wrapped herself back up in scarf and shawl. “If the recipient does not wish to be transported do not be afraid to let them be.” The alien smiled and nodded, putting back on the black, glass like mask; hissing softly as the clamps slipped around her horns. With a tug of her hood Malanah’s whole head was covered and she was ready to go.
“I shall contact you via encrypted holo once more should another package need shipment. For now, enjoy your earnings.” The voice was still sweet and tender despite the filter. she bowed her head, waiting nor for Tooth to rise up as well.
The Twi’lek fidgeted on the spot for a moment before getting up, too, taking his crate along, of course. His lekku returned to hang along his back, twitching just a little. “Um, okay! Well, um, I’ll get that, then. Usually got my comms on.”
“Good. Farewell, Captain.” She turned and begun to walk away, red clothes flicking about her form like fire again with each quick step. It went well and she knew her Mistress would be pleased. Maybe it was that pleased mindset that she didn’t notice the group of me hopping off the A25 turbolift, her head filled with the repeated words in Tooth’s conversations that she didn’t notice them walking right towards her... and she right towards them. Three men, armed lightly as if not expecting a fight, which they wouldn’t (couldn’t) get from the tiny woman.
One grabbed, she shrieked; meaty fingers at her neck. Another drew out a weapon and the third looked to find Tooth. For such big men they moved very fast. “AH! T-TOOTH!”
The Twi’lek had just pulled his scarf back over his own face when he heard the ruckus and the handmaiden cry out. He hopped over the seats and slid his crate underneath to keep it out of sight, pulled his blasters from their holsters and sprung back up. Sneakiness was not his forte, not with his metal feet. He raised his blasters at the looking assailant and fired, the light armor blasting to pieces as the bolt hit his chest.
One down and two to go.
The thug who had Malanah by the neck was quick to tug her into his arms, attempting to keep the wiggling woman under control; but that was made difficult with her yelling, hitting, and clawing. “G-Get off me! Let me go! Tooth, TOOTH!”
“Shut yer yap, Or I’ll shut it for ya’!” He shouted back at her before getting his eyes scratched by her nails. “RAGH!!” The man yells and drops the alien target to the ground with a hard thud, cupping his bleeding eyes.
The other living assailant who already had his blaster drawn takes a few shots at where Tooth was hiding, managing to graze the sleeve of his coat. The Twi’lek ducked and then retaliated, hitting the man in the arm. “Ah-!!” The human dropped his gun, his arm smoaking as the shot broke through fabric and flesh. He writhed in pain, but only for a moment longer till another round went straight for his skull.
Two down and one to go.
Malanah had been trying to roll away, scurry away on hands and feet, but the man who she attacked to get away reached for her ankle and held tight; bleeding eyelids blinking as the red tears ran down his face. “Oh no you don’t, stupid alien bi-Bloody ‘ell!”
A deep hellish scream came from behind them all, a dark figure busting out of the Turbolift with red blade drawn. The sith pounced onto the man’s back, heavy boot’s cracking bone and puncturing organs. The hunter screamed in pain as the agony ripped into his body, cut mercifully short by the crimson lightsaber slicing it’s way through his neck. The man died with eyes wide open and head rolling on the metal floor.
“T-Tooth!” Malanah whimpered, got to her feet and ran towards the Twi’lek, almost falling to the ground again as she held onto him. She was stuck in a panic, trying to cling onto anything that was familiar. It was clear that she was never introduced to battle first hand, a true “civilian” within the Empire.
The unknown Sith stepped off the headless corpse, boot’s squeaking slightly from a mix of blood and mud, standing a towering 6’9’’ tall with a form that would ripple any battle worn soldier; stacked with armor and muscles. His head slowly turned towards the two smaller aliens, face enshrouded by a draping hood. “...” There was an awkward silence that stank in the air for a few seconds, Malanah’s breath and the sound of the humming lightsaber the only sounds in those fleeting moments.
Tooth had holstered his weapons and grabbed Malanah when she got near. He wanted to check if she was okay but the new figure looming sent a chill through him and froze the small Twi’lek on the spot, his lekku winding around his shoulders uncharacteristically. All he wanted to do was run out of there. Just to grab his crate of credits and skedaddle, but that didn’t seem like it was an option now.
“... Does your sort always have to stand there gawking like an idiot?” The Sith spoke, unseen eyes fixed right on Tooth as his saber slipped away and off. “You come to this planet and not expect some sort of fight? Typical.”
At the much bigger man’s words Malanah’s eyes slowly went wide, coming back to her senses; breathing slowly simmering down. The little hands that held to Tooth begun to loosen about his coat and her posture took back its own gull, saying almost at a whisper. “C-Chem?”
“Who else would you have expected?” A single hand went to the hood, pulling it backwards to reveal the handsome yet terrifying face if the Sith pureblood, tall cheek bones paired with a wide jaw and leathery red skin. Narrow yellow eyes beamed at Tooth, snear stuck on his dark lips, then looked to Malanah. “With you and that gaudy outfit did you really think you would have gone un-seen? Tsh.” He did not head nor care about the Twi’lek’s body language, continuing his way to them.
Malanah let out a huge sigh and released Tooth to his own person, shaking her head. “‘Tis your idea I went alone in the first place.” She removed the mask again, showing a sweaty yet calm face. “That I do this alone... Oh! Tooth!” Her head flipped right back to the man at her side, looking him over quickly. “Are you hurt? Are you ok? Do...do you need to sit down?”
“Should, um. I, um. Maybe I’ll just, um—” Tooth couldn’t manage to say a complete sentence. It wasn’t the first Sith he’d met—not by a long shot—but they typically didn’t wield their lightsabres around him or decapitate people. Really, the whole scene prior was alarming and he didn’t even have his shiny cannon on his person. “I’m, um, good? Uh.” His fleeting eyes landed between Malanah and the Sith, but didn’t stay on either for longer than a brief second. “G-good hello, my Lord?”
Chemrinth Vilitadon did not smile, did not bow his head, the sneer on his face almost growing as he was addressed. “I am not a Lo-OH!” He was caught off guard by the quickly approaching Malanah, her bag coming up to swing at his face.
“You said!” Hit. “I could!” Hit. “Do this on my own!” Hit. “And yet you followed me the whole time, didn’t you?!” Hit. Her cute face was twisted into a heated glare as she struck the tall Sith, who was backing away at each slam of her bag.
“You-Can you just-RAH! s-Stop hitting-AH!” Chemrinth’s long black hair was a mess by the time Malanah got done with him, cowering slightly with a growl rolling in his throat. “...Are you do-!!” With a final whump he was hit, sighing as she finally got her anger out of the way.
“Hmph!” Malanah put her hands on her hips, eyes set on Chemrinth like a Master with their akk dog. “Wait for me by the speeders.”
“Since when were you allowed to give me orde-”
“NOW!” She gave a final shriek and hit of her bag, sending the Sith away with a must disgruntled huff. She wasn’t a Darth’s handmaiden for nothing, knowing how to keep Chemrinth on a nice invisible leash. She waited till The Sith was gone and the Turbolift went quiet, then turned back to Tooth. “...I am . . so very sorry you got tangled up in all of this. I... we will understand should you wish to... not make contact here again. O-Or for that matter,” The woman made her way back to Tooth’s side, stepping around the little pools of blood and strewn-about corpses like they were rain puddles; dull to the violence and gore.”, should you wish to void our contract for... delivery all together. I-I do not have anything to compensate for today’s...transgressions, but I could try to...to...”
Tooth relaxed again once the Sith left; his lekku, however, stayed put. “It’s, um. Fine? I’ve been through worse, I was just, um. Not expecting that?” He looked at Malanah again, actually looked, for a good long moment. “You are okay? Who, um, were those men?”
She didn’t look at him, eyes moving down to the bodies. There was something in her gaze, despite the numbness, despite the dulled sensations, that felt... sad. Utterly and downdraught sad. She was not ok, far from ok, and avoided his question with the other point. “These men... they... they are the other end to this struggle. People, Lords, Sith, who want nothing more than to get at my employer. In any way possible. Business wise, or personally. You see now why we need the secret...worry not, Chemrinth will guard us and clean up what transpired here.”
With her head still down Malanah’s fingers went into her bag once more, drawing out a little black pack. Once it was opened out came a tiny little gem, a brilliant red that matched her dress. Inside of it were both black and white sparkles, naturally formed and hand shined to perfection;glittering almost like a small ball of magma. With a small sigh she held the little orb up to Tooth, finally letting her eyes go up to his chin; the smile returning bit by bit. “Here. Take this, as a sign for my personal condolences.”
"Oh! N-no no!" Tooth waved his hands, smiling nervously behind his scarf. Unlike Malanah, the Twi'lek was far from bothered by the bodies littering the floor; he'd been mostly disensitised if one didn't count his disconnect with the concept of death itself. He patted the small woman's shoulder. "You, um, keep the shiny thing, really!"
“I insist.” Malanah did not waver in her gift, bring it close to one of his hands to take it. “Please, take it. Let it be m-more than a sign of my somber sorry... please.” With her smile sadness was still in her eyes, carefully looking up from the Twi’lek’s jaw area to his eyes once more.
"Miss lady, I'm a pirate. This stuff, um, happens," Tooth tried to laugh it off, but saw he couldn't keep rejecting the gem. He dropped his arms to his sides in an exaggerated huff and finally took the gift. "Um, thank you."
“You are welcome... and even pirates need something better in their lives then...” She gives a small shrug to the bodies. With a sigh of her own she forgets about the bleeding flesh, smile turned to Tooth a final time before the black mask slipped over her face. “Enjoy the gem. It brought me joy and wonder, I hope it shall do the same for you.” With the small black bag packed away she held out her hand for Tooth to take, a handshake before she would feel alright in letting him go. “And perhaps with our next meeting things won’t be quite so... hetic.”
“Maybe, um, I’ll find you something replace it, then.” The Twi’lek took her hand and shook it. “And really don’t, um, worry? I’m used to hectic; it’s just not, um, usually in such nice facilities,” he chuckled a little, finally relaxing his lekku.
“Hmm... perhaps I should take you to some place with a touch of grunge and rust, just in case.” The small woman giggled and gave a happy nod of her head, black mask hiding the wide grin, but her joy was found in letting Tooth’s hand move away from her own with a small trickle to his palm. It was something a child did to her once and Malanah found it very... comforting; a lasting playful note to help drown out any negativity left. “And I look forward to my Gem, Captain Tooth. Fare well, and take care on your departure.”
The Zabrak turned and went to the turbolift, drawing out her holocommunicator to make a call. She was going to need one very complainant cleaning crew for ridding the bay A25 of it’s littering flesh.
The Twi’lek tipped his hat in goodbye and himself went off, retrieving his crate from under the seats and returning to his ship to depart. Sightseeing would be for another day.
Hello Readers! Thanks to the assistance of my wise cracking Nemodian PR, I'm here to write to you for an unknown amount of time about food from all around! So I thought I'd start this column on the right foot and start off with an open discussion with you, my new dear readers.
This week's discussion is a sort of back-to-home question. Your first favorite meal may even still be your favorite meal. Was it a berry-infused sweet porridge that your mother made when you were crawling up to the holoviewer to watch the cartoon adventures of Captain Wacky Wampa in the mornings? Or maybe it was that gumbah pudding you had on your first date? Let me know, as I want to know more about my readers! But more importantly about the food you love. ...
I'm now departing Taris. Initially, I arrived upon the presumption that I would be there solely to rescue a Doctor Gedora for the sake of aiding the Republic and keeping him out of the Empire's grasp. However, I was not prepared for what I was to face.
I had never heard of Taris in history books or even gazed upon the planet before I arrived. I cannot even imagine the events that had transpired there. What was once a bustling, industrious planet was reduced to rubble and ashes some three centuries ago and now the Republic is in attempt to rebuild it. Between environmental hazards, a three century old plague that turns people into monsters, imperial soldiers and pirates, I feel for all the citizens and Republic soldiers there. For the brief time I spent there, it was a challenge to say the least. For those that choose to live there, they possess a patience and endurance that they do not believe they have. I hope that my work there has lead to making steps towards peace and progress on that planet. Perhaps after some time I will head back and see how they fair and lend a hand where ever I can again.
This datafile will be the chronicle of the choices I've made, the struggles I've endured, and finally the path I've walked. The reasons I have to start this journal are many, but one remains to be the most important. I have faith that my writings will serve to provide insight and wisdom to future generations, regardless of how big or how small a role I play in the galaxy and in the force. The path to wisdom is full of pain and suffering, but it does end in peace. The Force has guided me thus far to become a Jedi Guardian, to serve and protect others, just as my village did for me when I was orphaned on Tattooine when I was but a child.
It was the Force that guided Jedi Makin Bindo though the deserts and come upon me and gave him the wisdom to see my potential. That was how I ended up on Tython to begin my training. Now, that seems forever ago because life was simple then. Undergoing years of teachings and trials was not easy, but it was a very peaceful atmosphere that allowed me to grow in many ways.
However, that has changed completely since I have become a knight in the order. I've spent more of my time on ships than any one planet and it is hard to adjust. I am constantly meeting new people everyday from other members of the order, to Republic troopers, citizens, and so many other individuals from different walks of life. I am glad that I can help them in any way I can; however, it is not easy. Often I find the darkness looming around every corner, and it feels that I am but a lone candle going in to face that darkness, but the light prevails and sends back the darkness.
I find myself often struggling with situations on when to show mercy and forgiveness and when to simply punish those according to their crimes against the law. I may never know the true impact of my actions, but I put my faith in the Force in how it directs my decisions so that I may find peace.
The path of the Guardian is long and wearisome, but I sense that I will find other soon that will share my burdens, just as I will share theirs. May the Force protect and guide us all.
