I had a pt with an abnormal SWYC, so I asked one of the pediatricians in my clinic what to do about it. His response:
It depends on which portion of the SWYC is abnormal. If the PPSC is abnormal, I typically do a lot of education regarding what normal expectations are for development and behavior at their age. If there are concerns for their temperament or mood, you can consider a BH referral if they are of age. Otherwise, getting them into preschool is a good idea to help with socialization and learning to follow up rules. We previously had a referral to Healthy Steps, but that is not currently active.
