parties aren’t necessarily his thing, at least they're not while he’s stressing over an upcoming job. really, he should be at home, slaving over his desk with his cat comfortably laying on his lap, surely asleep. but instead, he’s at a friend’s house ---- they’d mentioned something about a housewarming ? he can’t quite bring himself to c a r e for the whole event, let alone the people in attendance. he’s situated himself on the sofa in the furthest CORNER of the room, glass of water pressed to his palm. he watches the interactions taking place between guests, though it’s a way to pass the time, a distraction from the storm of thoughts fermenting inside of his mind. he takes a slow sip of his drink, the water cold as it spreads through his body, numbing his throat. the atmosphere’s far too noisy and he’s far too sober for the occasion, but he can’t bring himself to drink, no matter the temptation. rather, he admits defeat and sinks further into his seat. he promises himself he won’t stay long ---- he knows he’d be found out if he left now, there’s far too many watchful eyes around. thus, it’s with a heavy s i g h that he pulls out his phone, all in the hopes of it offering better entertainment for the remainder of his time there.
