With Valentine's day here, and Nugget already in Japan for some business, she couldn't help but to visit her favorite chef in the whole world. With a box of chocolate covered strawberries in hand and an air of determination in her walk, she entered the restaurant where he worked. It was easy to spot the chef when he was on his break. When she started get closer to him, her cheeks started to turn red. "H-hey Sanji. I have these for you." With a bit of hesitation, she handed over the box. (1/2)
With the chocolates in the others hand, she took a deep breath. Now comes the hardest pat. “I… also have something I need to tell you. But its not for others to hear…” She motioned him to bend down so she could tell him what she wanted to tell softly into his ear. “I-I love…” she was very nervous on what she was about to confess and had to take another deep breath before the big reveal. “I love… Chicken nuggets.” With that she pulled away into a small giggling fit. “Happy V-day.” (2/2)
“Nugget!” Arms opened wide, heart and soul yearning for a hug from his dearest friend, Sanji nearly flung himself forward. The only thing that kept him from latching on was the box in her hands. Stunned into stillness, the blond simply stared. He was well aware of what day it was, but her visit and the notion that she wanted to celebrate with him caught him off-guard.
His arms dropped to his side. Color stained his cheeks.
Chocolates, for him! He was both flattered and guilt-ridden. Her unannounced presence meant he had no time to prepare a gift for her. The thought made him feel selfish, though there was no way he could have known that she would surprise him like this.
“You didn’t need to do that! But you’re the sweetest for thinking of me! Thank you.” He took the box, a sudden shudder in his chest nearly prompting him to drop it. Not only had she given him chocolates, but it sounded as if she longed to confess something of great importance to him.
Swallowing hard, Sanji leaned forward. The pink in his cheeks turning to a warm red, sweat gathering under the collar of his shirt. Ear drawing closer to her lips, he waited with baited breath for her secret.
That one word sent his blood rushing into his ears, the constant beating of his own heart nearly deafening him. He sucked in air, let it gather in his chest. Then, as quickly as he had taken it in, it was forced out. Disappointment deflated him. He sank where he stood, eyes moving to catch hers.
Of course. Little tease. He should have expected as much, considering what she had done last Valentine’s Day.
“Alright, you got me again. I’ll admit, that was pretty damn clever.” He freed a small chuckle and leaned in to give her a small kiss against her temple. “Speaking of nuggets. How long did it take you to get here? You’re bound to be hungry, so let me cook you something special for the occasion!”
