Chess puzzles are so great!! "THATS NOT THE MOVE" "WELL IT SHOULD BE!!" (several minutes later) "ok yeah that wasnt the move. Thats fair"
There is a corollary to the chess puzzle that's "the best move is to sacrifice the queen" and thats when there is an option to take the enemy queen. "Thats not the move" "WHAT DO YOU MEAN I GET TO KILL LADY MACBETH WITH THAT MOVE" (looks, there is an available checkmate) "ah. That is not the Move"
I love how humbling stockfish analyses are as a beginner. Its like "oh I think that went pretty well :) " and then its like "actually you almost died. Badly". And sometimes its many times in succession!!
They were not joking doing lots of chess puzzles does is improving. Your game.
Today's how to lose at chess was how to win at chess....by accident lol. I kid you not I was just pushing that pawn to see what would happen, I did not know that was mate.
Not pictured:
Amateurishly blundered bishops in the opening
My opponent having a huge material advantage but somehow being allergic to using it?
A fork I completely beefed up
a second fork I failed to see which would have won me the bishop (lol) but probably would have missed me checkmate so it's fine I guess
Pins star to @krippe90 labelled "okayest at chess on tumblr" for this pawn push that got me good :"))))
The good news is I am getting observant enough to see my own blunders. The bad news? Its usually after I play them. The good news? Well luckily my opponent did not see that either. Sometimes. Now step 1 just see the blunder first and. Do not make it
