We arrived here in Swizerland 12 days ago. Arrived to a Situation that meant so much of my planning and preparation to begin working was right out of the window as we had to scramble to find housing. To say this was distracting is an understatement. On the heels of the emotional catastrophe that was the decluttering of half of our apartment back home, landing in Europe to find we had to start from zero on finding a place to live was a waking nightmare. And Swizerland isn't a place to have to find reasonably priced, comfortable housing last-minute. I was almost totally unable to focus. Which is not okay. In the rehearsal rooms yes, I can let the world fall away and not feel the ball of anxiety in my guts and the wrenching tightness in my neck and back...but walking away from #SYCORAXTheOpera meant walking right back into massive uncertainty. Now though. I found a place. Small but beautiful. We have it secured and paid. The owner seems to welcome having us, and us super responsive. I've survived the first week of rehearsals and gotten my feet wet on this character I'm inhabiting. The creative team is absolutely fucking badass, my co-workers are strong and fierce and gorgeous...and I think we are magic.
