The Copper Derby
The bar of the Bulli Family Hotel – shortened in 2000 – once ran around this concrete pylon. Drinkers used to dip their pennies in beer and stick the coins onto the pylon, which was donated to the Bulli Police Boys’ Club, and later used in the famous wheelbarrow race – the Bulli Copper Derby, which ran annually from 1961 to 1965.
