A Man Out of His Time [Sydney, Ryan]

The former Sergeant leaned forward against the railing overlooking what seemed to be 'roads'--if you could call it that. Shuttles whizzed by, to and fro, in the great openness right in the center of the Citadel. He couldn't begin to fathom what technology held this entire complex together, let alone accounted for everything else he encountered. Omni-tools, laser guns, barriers and biotics. A world's difference than back home, back in the past.

As he glanced behind him for a moment (mainly out of pure instinct), he gave a kind smile to some woman. Human, not of any alien race from what he could tell. But, after the brief lock of the eyes, Ryan turned back to the shuttles. Fascinating was an understatement.
