Okay I have to ask, as your kid is in Gryffindor? Does he mind some musical action in front of his dormitory? 🤔🤔🤔 i mean god he hates loud noises and people but how would he react? ((Couple of snakes dancing and singing a catchy love song))

Sylvain does dislike loud sounds, but this is usually with sudden noises or cases of people being inconsiderate in certain spaces – like the library where students are trying to study.

If people are having fun and enjoying themselves, he’s a good sport and genuinely understands! He’ll just quietly put on some headphones to drown out distractions and not make a big fuss about it.

As for some particular danger noodles camped outside the Gryffindor turf...

Sylvain has been standing there for the last three minutes struggling to figure out the least disappointing way of telling Lyx that Valerie left Gryffindor Tower over an hour ago. Somebody. Please. Help him.

WAAAHH! THANK YOU FOR ASKING SO MANY!! I’ll do my best to come up with answers since I haven’t thought that far ahead with his character, hurhur…

10. In which house were they sorted? How much do they fit the Sorting Hat choice?

Diego and Jacob placed bets against each other on Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw.

Though quiet and seemingly passive in nature, Sylvain definitely matches the chivalrous type. Having been born under the Caplan family (renown for their passion and honorable code) and small-yet-respectable Rivoire family, he acts based on what he believes is right/moral as a human being.

18. Do they attend other club activities at school?

He keeps getting recruited for the Quidditch or Dueling Club but always turns them down because 1) he hates flying and 2) “I have no interest in becoming a dueling champion like my father.” It comes off as a surprise to other people when they find out he’s in Dance Club.

19. Have they developed any peculiar skill, magical or not?

Sylvain has some affinity for non-verbal magic but his current skill level only allows him to cast simple and relatively harmless charms like Lumos or Wingardium Leviosa.

PS. I read your one tag about his name having French origins and meaning “wood/forest.” Apparently it comes from the root name of “Silvanus” which I just found out that Jacob’s middle name of “Silas” also happens to stem from. And Leigh (had I used the correct reading lol but I didn’t) means “wood clearing/meadow”… *WHEEZE* I’m shooketh because these are waaaaay too many coincidences.

2. Who are their parents? What’s their relationship with them?

Ah. The lovebird power couple.

Sylvain feels burdened by the title of being the son of a champion duelist. However, Diego doesn’t pressure his son to follow his footsteps and openly supports Sylvain’s own interests and passions. Every other night during holidays, the both of them can be found spending time together and strumming on their guitars.

Leigh is super affectionate and can come off as excessively doting at times, but Sylvain understands she means well. All she wants is shower him the love and support that she has been blessed with from her own family and loved ones. She encourages him to be more free-spirited than she was as a teenager for the sake of his own growth.

Sylvain is not as outgoing or easy to interact with compared to his parents so there is some slight worry about him making friends at Hogwarts. But in the end, they know that's just how their son is and don't try to push him to do anything outside his comfort zone.

27. How do they change throughout their school years?

Sylvain participates is forced into an exchange program at Ilvermorny for the second half of his fifth year. Afterwards, he spends the summer in the States traveling with Jacob or staying with his new American friends. So when he returns to Hogwarts in September… he got glowed up and it’s pretty shocking to the other students who have not seen him since December.

I’m talking growth spurt, body build, stronger posture, and eyes that can now maintain contact for more than 0.5 seconds. He’s still quiet but at least he’s hopefully easier to talk to?

29. Are they the “bully”, the “victim” or the “hero” of the situation?

25. What’s their greatest weakness? How do they deal with it?

Being compared to his parents who are both pretty famous in the wizarding community. People think of Sylvain to be some kind of prodigy because of his background but he’s a normal teenager trying to get by.

It can be demoralizing when people make comments like “Just as expected of Diego Caplan’s kid!” or “You’re the son of a former cursebreaker after all!” and don’t give him enough credit for his personal efforts. In the end, Sylvain acknowledges that these titles will forever be a part of who he is. Give him time and he’ll gradually be recognized for his own accomplishments and be proud to contribute to the family name.

26. Is there an objective they’re trying to accomplish?

Get through school, don’t make a scene, survive, and graduate. Like, you know how some of us probably have that one phase where you dunno what you wanna do with your future… that’s what he’s going through.
