wada sez: This strip recontextualises the very first episode of the Sunbow cartoon, explaining the contrivance that Megatron doesn’t just wipe out the Autobots when he has the chance. The idea that Optimus and Megatron need each other on some level is one that’s cropped up in a great many Transformers stories, particularly Generation 2, and the Unicron Trilogy.

wada sez: This strip is reminiscent of Kris Carter’s older strip “Trapped”, which similarly played on Thundercracker’s conflicted loyalties as outlined in his original bio. Skywarp is seen in what’s presumably a CR chamber. For the most part, this strip makes the rare stylistic choice to use 3D models, but the viewscreen in the last panel contains a screenshot of Bltizwing from the Sunbow cartoon. There was some blatant homophobia across the various fansites in response to this strip (though I should add that some people called it out at the time). Of these commenters, the artist said “those people have never experienced true friendship in their lives [...] As if you can't have a deep bond with someone of the same sex as you.” But I disagree with the artist in the sense that I think Thundercracker is in fact gay as hell.
