Sylvie Brett Appreciation Week | DAY 3 | FAVOURITE PERSONALITY TRAIT

This was really a hard one . Sylvie Brett is KIND , BRAVE , FUNNY , COMPASSIONATE person who always see the good in people no matter what. She is also someone who always show up for other people wheather it be her friends , family , or even someone she barely know. She is someone you can always count on.

Day 7 - Free Choice

Happy / Goofy Sylvie Brett

I just want to see more of happy and carefree Sylvie (preferably with Matt 😏).

Season 9 was so challenging for her and it’s not like season 8 was all rainbows and unicorns too. I just want to see her have a break, I want to see her enjoy those happy moments.

She’s such a light and we need to see more of that. I hope season 10 will be kinder to her and that we’ll get to enjoy her relationship with Matt.

Day 7 - Free choice

I think one of the greatest things about procedural is the opportunity to have characters grow. At the start Sylvie Brett, was a small town farm girl; who showed up in season 3 as a naive, peppy, curious young woman who was leaving behind a toxic town and emotionally manipulative runaway groom.

Now Sylvie Brett (two TT’s) has grown into a confident, skilful, brave yet vulnerable, Chicagoan who as never lost her goodness or ability to care for people. She is doing a job she loves, with people she loves and is now in love and the fact we’ve been able to see how much Brett has matured and earned her place as PIC and is finally in a relationship with someone who is worthy, is just so satisfying.

For my free choice, I guess it’s just a bit of a ramble about what would be good to see next for Sylvie Brett’s arc.

1. Obviously, it would be great to see Brett in a happy, stable relationship and see what that will bring in terms of storylines. (I really, really want to see a house renovations and more commitments in Brettsey’s near future!)

2. Family. Even though we’ve seen so much about Sylvie’s adoption and we got to meet Julie, it feels like we’ve barely scratched the surface of Sylvie’s family, her past and what those relationships are like. It would also be nice to see how she interacts with Matt’s sister and to get an insider look at how Brettsey develop as a familial unit as well how as a couple fit with their 51 family.

3. Stella and Sylvie deserve more friendship time. I hope we get to see some sisterly bonding through wedding planning shenanigans and more in season 10. It’s also going to be fun to see their bond with Violet Mikami grow. I also hope we get mentions of Foster if we can’t see her.

4. More recognition of Brett’s skills and ability as a leader needs to happen in Season 10 and if it’s linked to Sylvie going above and beyond to help people outside of the job, even better.

5. Understanding the toll of the job would be an interesting theme with a couple of the characters. However, with Ambo, they’re often busier than the others in Firehouse 51, they interact and deal with people in pretty traumatic situations on every shift nevermind working in a pandemic so that must take just a general toll. Then there’s the gruesome cases or the pulling at the heartstring moments, which usually we get to see snippets of but I’d love to see more of that at the centre of episodes and get insight into how 2021 Sylvie Brett deals with it. Now that she has a Casey and hopefully a pretty solid future ahead of them, how will she deal with traumatic or dangerous situations will be interesting to see. In season 10, I’d love a big action, potential crossover, significant episode with Ambo at the heart of it.

To sum up, Sylvie Brett is an awesome character. She’s incredibly relatable and clearly a comfort character for so many people. Season 10 better be a great season for her otherwise we riot!

My mom... She uses the word good to describe people. And it’s an underrated word if you ask me, ‘cause it gets used so often, but to my mom, good is the highest compliment. “He’s a good man” she’d say about my father. And in that one word she meant he had honor. She meant he was loyal. She meant he was brave. Now, I haven’t spent a ton of time at 51 yet, but I can tell you this... You and Casey, you are both good.
