i just finished reading volume 5 of adachi to shimamura and im still screaming about it. im mostly confused about shimamura's behaviour considering she straight up went "what a pain" at adachi's phone call. like i wanna know what went on in shimamura's head during that phone call and how she resolved it (?) in her head that allowed her to act out from how she usually would (suggesting they hold hands)
As she honestly admitted, "What a pain" was what she really meant when she was overwhelmed with Adachi‘s phone call. I assume in that moment her laziness / can‘t-be-bothered-with attitude just took over, as she mentioned, that she shouldn‘t have said that later with an apology. (Even a Shimamura can hold herself back usually).
What‘s happened in those 3 days (I think) where they didn‘t interact, was maybe Shimamura actually trying to wilfully ignore what happened for both their sakes. (Shimamura even forgot why Adachi apologized for initially and then confirmed that neither of them did anything wrong).
Maybe her actual reflection has happened during their time spent together after meeting up to go to the pool, after Adachi apologized. Because there she realised how important that was for Adachi, to be forgiven and then thought about what she could suggest her to do next (Shimamura is often accurate about what Adachi feels - when it‘s not about love - so she likely expected that Adachi was still driving herself insane about what happened and didn‘t want her to struggle so much.)
While Shimamura‘s suggestion was based on thinking that Adachi is a lil‘ jealous crybaby, who is neglected by her parents and hardly interacted with anyone up till their first meeting and not based on knowing that Adachi did say that because the jealousy had a deep (obsessive) love basis. If Shimamura had known then that Adachi was in love with her, I really wouldn‘t know what she had suggested otherwise from meeting other people than her.
But yeah I agree, I also wanted to see Shimamura‘s POV more than anything. Maybe we get to see it in the next volume, but I almost don‘t believe so anymore, since it‘s likely gonna be a new arc coming next volume.
