he lies on the bed and watches me
as I slowly approach him.
he presses his lips together to create a fine line.
he seems nervous.
it’s only a matter of distance of two feet between us now.
I wonder what he is thinking,
does he like what he sees?
he runs his eyes down my body,
and a smile stretches across his face.
he runs them back up and pauses at my chest.
"beautiful," he says.
I smile and continue to walk towards him
right until my stomach is to his face.
he grabs me and pulls me closer.
in a natural instinct, I lift my legs one by one
onto the bed, causing me to sit on his lap.
he kisses my lips,
while intensely gazing into my eyes.
he tells me,
"Let me love you the way you should be loved."
in this split second, I became like every other girl in the world.
I became one of those girls
who crave love and affection.
I lost my sense, and
I let love take over my mind.
I became numb and subconcious.
I forgot of all the times I watched men
hurt my mother, my sisters, and my friends.
I forgot the countless months and years
they spent grieving over love.
I forgot the hundreds of times
in which I called them weak,
weak for letting their walls down.
I forgot how independent I was.
And I forgot the promise I made to myself-
the promise that I would never fall in love.
I let him take control over me...
