So as we approach the end of the month of Edward "ignoring Bella" in our Twilight in Real Time journey for the first book, buckle the fuck up guys, because

Welcome to the Twilight in Real Time Project

Twilight in Real Time began on Monday, January 17th of 2022. The Calendar dates for 2022 and 2005 match up exactly, making this a perfect time to experience the passage of time in Twilight as it would occur in the books with weekends and holidays (more or less) matching up.

Now the fact of the Twilight timeline starting in its year of publication (not the year it was written) is, I believe, a retcon, as the first book was not written to a calendar. That said all the dates and days of the week seem to match up to 2005 in Twilight. The same can't exactly be said for New Moon but adjustments will be made in those installments so that the dates concur with the calendar, for ease on my part, which will result in some out and out ignoring the next (but it's for a good cause).

Eclipse will be especially challenging since it WAS written to a calendar, but it was the calendar for 2007, when it was written, not 2006 when the book actually takes place.

TWILIGHT vs. LIFE AND DEATH

We're also breaking down the differences between Twilight and Life and Death! In the minutest of details, right down to changes in punctuation: we're examining how Beau isn't allowed to blush, Edythe isn't allowed to chuckle, when background characters are deserving of gender-swaps, and whether or not Stephenie Meyer has fallen out of love with the em dash.

2:00 PM-6:30 PM [approx] - Alice kidnaps Bella and gives her a makeover

6:45 PM - Edward escorts Bella to the Forks High Jr. Prom

6:50 PM - Charlie calls Edward about the confused Tyler Crowley in his living room

7:00 PM - Edward and Bella arrive at the prom

7:25 PM - Jake gate-crashes Bella's prom to give her a message from his father

7:40 PM - Edward and Bella leave the gym and go outside; Bella tells Edward why she really thought Alice got her all dressed up. Edward fakes her out on turning her, like a jerk

2:30-5:30 AM - Bella spends hours silently panicking on the floor of her hotel bedroom

5:37 AM (Approx.) - Edward, Emmett, and Carlisle board flight to Phoenix; James calls Bella with an ultimatum

5:40 AM (Approx.) - Bella decides to follow James instructions and go to the Ballet studio; writes goodbye letters

5:45 AM (Approx.) - Alice has a shocking vision, Bella showers before they leave the hotel room

6:00 AM - Edward misguidedly prays for the "strength" to leave Bella someday, as the Chapel speakers play Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto 2, Second Movement - Adagio Sostenuto

Highly recommend listening to that concerto as you read the next time you read Midnight Sun it just lifts the whole dish
