Flying Calvittos - Squeal Like A Pig
Important reissue notification: “Goodbye You Spaghetti Punks“ just brought back to life by Insolito Records in Germany.
"Facts are a little thin on the ground for this one. It's two brothers of Italian extraction, called Calvitto. Production is by later producer to the indie stars of Sydney - Phil Punch. The studio was called Groove, we think on the North shore somewhere, and Groove, owner of the eponymous studio and label, plays drums on here. We hear he was also the lender of the punk influence on this track. The rest of the EP is DIY in nature; we hear the influence of the Residents. Not to say the rest isn't worthy - it's some of the finest DIY from Australia." -Wallaby Beat

1. Alex Haynes & The Fever- Nobody Come to Call

The band is comprised of Haynes on vocal, guitar and percussion and Rich Coulson on drums, piano and percussion. The result, whilst having an elemental simplicity inherent in the act's stripped back line-up, remains a rich brew.
Was Sydney Leroux's celebration "classless"?
Rounding the keeper and slotting the ball into the back of the net, Leroux scored a goal in stoppage time against her native country, Canada. Leroux faced the crowd (the game was at BMO in Canada) holding up the crest and then moments after, holding her finger to her lips, shushing the crowd. Leroux received a lot of grief from the Canadian media over the celebration. One media source went as far as calling it "classless." So was it classless? No. Leroux has been the object of Canadian racial and sexist remarks long before she came on a substitute in Sunday's match. Claims of these same actions in the Olympic Qualifying Women's Soccer tournament in Vancouver were made by Leroux just today. One look at the racist remarks she receives on twitter and you will be surely be on the side of Leroux. Her most recent tweet reads, "When you chant racial slurs, taunt me and talk about my family don't be mad when I shush you and show pride in what I represent. #america." So she gave the Canadians a taste of their own medicine. A nice little, fuck me? No fuck you, to the Canadians. I am absolutely fine with her actions, am proud to have her representing the US, and hope she continues to stand up against racism. So in the end, so what if she held the crest to the fans; she's much classier than those calling her a c**t and chanting racist remarks. So keep it up Leroux. Stick it to those but-hurt Canadians.
Cheers eh,
Bill
