Windows Reimagined. Windows 8: Developer Preview
Microsoft presented the Windows 8 platform for Developer preview at the BUILD event, held on Sept 13-16, Anaheim, CA.
Quick first reviews show a radically different OS redesigned from the ground up. Key product differences include; totally redesigned software “from the chipset to the user experience”, new metro style interface built for touch but equally good with mouse and keyboard, very low and efficient memory footprint, even lesser than Windows 7. Windows 8 provides for a fast and fluid touch-browsing experience. Apps build for Windows 8 can communicate with each other, using share contracts. Syncs content from the cloud services across all your devices.
For developers, significant, is the ability to create “Metro-style” applications for Window 8, that can be written or coded in any language, including C, C++, C#, VB, HTML 5/Javascript and/or XAML. This makes app-writing accessible to both software and web developers alike. Microsoft will have its own app store called “The Windows Store” that will allow developers to sell their apps anywhere Windows is sold worldwide.

At Sysfore, we think Windows 8 is super exciting and holds a lot of promise as a platform that helps exploits the connected, social and open computing environment today. For a web development house like ours, it opens up a world of possibilities, using web technologies to build new metro-style desktop applications that run on any device that runs Windows 8.
