Emotional Observing Parts (OEP)-Alters who have the ability to observe and hear alters in the system that others parts are unable to. Some Observing parts may be insightful regarding how to assist the system. A few OEP involve some level of care taking. These parts typically do not interact externally in the world, but can be active internally.

PERPETUAL HOST - a subcategory of 'host'

This term refers to an alter who is the host, and will always return to the position of host. They may not front for periods of a time ranging from weeks to years and may lose the title of host during these periods. They will however always return to fronting and being a host. The system will often still function surrounding the perpetual hosts needs and goals despite the periods of them not hosting.
