#artprompt number 17: Peace... What is peace but a celebration. There is chaos in the world and there is chaos in us. Same goes for violence. There is the outer violence, such as police forces and other people in power oppressing and murdering those who are not white (and those who are not male). And, as if that weren't enough, there is inner violence; violence which we inflict on ourselves. Cutting ourselves down, murdering ourselves. Peace is letting go of the inner and the outer violence. Peace is embracing all of our power, because we are all so bright. Peace is pure electric love for the whole world. That's what I was thinking about while choosing the colours to splash on this page. Title: Illness... This piece was inspired by a horrifying part of North American history. In the 1700s, the French Colonists gifted blankets infected with smallpox to the Indeginous people to kill them off. I remember my Dad first telling me this story when I was a kid and being horrified then, and wondering how people could act with such evil intentions. The fact is the Indigenous people of Canada and the US are not treated equally. There is so much trauma in their community. This is just one of many stories, which need to be heard in order for healing to occur. Not to mention all the distressing, personal lived experiences, which exist because of colonisation.
