Next up on Conjunction Recordings comes an immersive new offering from its founder, Catalyst.AD, backed with a breezy remix from in-demand Ipswich native Conrad Subs.
Having made a name for the fledgling label as a home for high-quality productions across the bass music spectrum, the London-based DJ/producer has personally turned in all three releases on Conjunction since its inception earlier this year, with each showcasing a different string to his bow.
First up on the new release, “Systems of Change” kicks off with airy plucks and bluesy piano riffs, which give way to punchy drums and gritty, drawn-out basslines to make for a simultaneously soothing and hard-hitting aural experience. Centred around a reverberating vocal sample which encourages listeners to “use love and compassion as our guiding principles”, the track offers up a wholesome message during difficult times, adding to its blissful serenity.
Meanwhile, Conrad Subs’ contribution wraps up an unbelievably busy year for the rising star, which has seen him release his debut album Tides as well as a slew of EPs on coveted labels including ProgRAM, Dubplate Dread and Nuusic. Tackling “Too Far Gone”, the flitting liquid closer from Catalyst.AD’s recent EP Coming Home, Conrad pares the track back to its base elements, honing in on its lurking basslines and mesmeric sweeps to provide a minimal, yet equally exciting spin on the track.
