She snorts, looking at the two dogs that sat at the entrance of the open bakery. The two animals didn’t move from their spot, nor did they protest to getting pets from strangers.

“Everyone here knows that my dogs are the reason the bakery stays open. They only visit on warm days, and everyone enjoys their presence when the patio is open," she said as she began packing his order, carefully placing the pastries in the black box. "Besides, they stay away from the kitchen and the customers. They’re content where they are.“

Sylus glanced over his shoulder; one of the Dobermans glared back at him. The pink studded collar bore the name Theodoria in chunky lettering. The dog opened her mouth wide, showing off a set of silver-capped canines.

He took note of the display, smirking as he prepared his next remark to irritate Ursula. He always enjoyed teasing her in his spare time, which was quite plentiful. “Does that explain the silver canines? Are you sure they’re safe around civilians?”

Ursula’s right eye twitches, the smile on her face gone. She swallows hard, “Take your cup.”

“Seems like I hit a nerve, Ursi.” He hums, taking a sip of coffee as his free hand carries the box.

“Make sure the door doesn’t hit you on the way out,” she waves him off, going to the sink to wash her hands. “What an ass.”

BACKGROUND | ursula is the daughter to a devoted crime lord family that is enemies with sylus. she stepped out of the business to help her grandmother run the bakery and operate it. back in the day, the bakery used to be the underground entrance to the underworld of crime. it sold bootleg alcohol and drugs during the times of the prohibition. times have changed and mafias have gotten stronger. ursula is the only surviving child and wants nothing to do with the family but that’s until sylus finds the bakery and suspects that the long lost child of his enemy is here: cosplaying as a civilian.

HELLOO 🫰🏼 first impression definitely was not how i expected it. he was very nice and i was not 🥲 but bad customers in the bakery definitely worsen my mood!!! first impression worked on me <3 he asked what were the flavors of the day and also complimented my makeup (it’s just mascara and liner) but it helped my sour mood and i was definitely side eyeing my grandma for help because of nerves. and even my grandmother was like: what a handsome young man 🤪

he does become a regular 😌 and enjoys sitting all the way in the back watching people enter and exit while eating and drinking
