I've been studying JAVA for some time. I consider myself intermediate-advanced. The only problem is that I don't know what to do with my knowledge of understanding. Like, I know how to read code.. I just don't know how to create my own, from scratch. Any tips?

The best way to really learn how to write code are programming projects. One awesome website is coding bat (http://codingbat.com/). It has problems and their solutions ranging from really easy, to a bit more advanced. While they aren't extremely complicated they are good for reinforcing knowledge and concept, especially if you don't have a lot of experience.  Khan academy (https://www.khanacademy.org/computing/cs) also has a whole bunch of lessons and challenges on their site to practice coding.
