It seems as if 15 years have quickly flown by since we first opened our doors at the base of the famous Oberbaumbrücke joining Berlin’s Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain districts. With countless long nights into majestic mornings and open airs in our beloved city to showcases spanning the globe, Watergate has grown to include a booking agency and a record label pushing the sounds of our mainstay artists and some of the most revered acts in the scene. To celebrate our journey over the last decade and a half we have put together a special anniversary release of 25 new, exclusive and formerly unreleased tracks to be released as a 2x CD set with our traditional Watergate artwork as well as a special collector's edition box set as a 5x vinyl, 2x CD package including a commemorative art print, two free entries to the club itself and the very special photo book ‘Sound Travels’ by Linus Dessecker which features photos and interviews of artists that played at Watergate when they arrived or left Berlin, all wrapped up in a sleek minimalistic package entitled “WATERGATE XV”.

Encompassing music from club residents like Matthias Meyer, Jimi Jules, Marco Resmann, La Fleur, Tiefschwarz, Floyd Lavine, Lee Jones, Adana Twins, Sebo K, Hyenah and Cinthie and new comers Gorje Hewek & Izhevski, Gumz and Ryan Davis to friends and cohorts who have close ties to the club such as Butch, Henrik Schwarz, Ellen Allien, Alex Niggemann, Catz n’ Dogz, Steve Bug, Osunlade, Solomun, Rodriguez Jr., Oliver Koletzki, Anja Schneider, Mathias Kaden and Kollektiv Turmstrasse, WATERGATE XV comprises of a plethora of sounds you have come to anticipate from our home along the Spree. From deep and euphoric cuts to lush organics tracks to heavier, peak time compositions, this compilation finds a moment that encapsulates every aspect of the sounds of Watergate.

We think this body of music perfectly captures our essence, whether it’s under our famous LED’s, on the waterfloor watching the sun rise or at any of our showcases and open airs the world over. We hope it can spark a memory in your mind to a moment we shared over the last 15 years. Deetron - Re-Creation (Remixes Compiled)

Seeking for a different twist to original tracks, there are not many producers who have not tapped on Deetron’s talents as a masterful remixer. Putting his deft touch on tracks from artists as varied as Ennio Morricone and Todd Terje to Jamiroquai, Deetron’s remixes have become standalone hits in their own right. With more than 200 remixes to his name since his first remix was released in 2000, Deetron takes stock and cherry-picks from his vast discography to present Re-creation (Remixes Compiled) for Character 007. A collector’s collection from past to present, the compilation stretches across his body of work from 2003 to 2017 and features some of Deetron’s very best. As a special bonus, the compilation also includes more than a handful of exclusive new versions, edits and instrumentals that Deetron has been using as secret weapons in his DJ sets. These are now released for the first time for all to enjoy. Re-creation (Remixes Compiled) will be released on both digital and vinyl. The double-pack vinyl release features Deetron’s personal landmark releases on sides A/B, while the C/D sides feature exclusive or previously unreleased edits/versions.

Gyermekbarát város – kutatás és koncepciófejlesztés

KONTEXTUS A 2016-ban megvalósított Gyermekbarát Város 1.0 projekt eredményeire alapozva egy két ütemből álló kutatás és koncepciófejlesztési programot tervezünk véghez vinni, amely annak a lehetőségeit keresi, hogy a design milyen eszközökkel járulhat hozzá, ahhoz, hogy a fővárosunk gyermekbarátabb legyen. Az EU Gyermekbarát város koncepciója alapján (childfriendlycity.eu) különböző témákban végzünk design kutatást, majd koncepciófejlesztést. Azokat a kérdéseket járjuk körül, hogy a design segítségével milyen módon érhetőek el a gyerekek mindennapi életét pozitívan befolyásoló változások Budapest közterületein, milyen Budapest specifikus megoldások képzelhetők el. A projekt megbízója Budapest Főváros. A Design Szolfézs program Design Alapok blokkjának tervezési feladata ennek a projektnek a részeként valósul meg.

FELADAT Négy fős interdiszciplináris csapatokban kutatás végrehajtása és koncepciók kidolgozása a gyermekbarát város témájában az alábbiakban meghatározott keretek szerint.

Fifteen Years Of Underground Sonics

Critical Music reaches its 100th release in its 15th year, celebrating with the landmark album ‘Fifteen Years Of Underground Sonics’. Spanning the broad spectrum of drum & bass that the Critical sound represents, the exceptional ‘15’ album is as bold as it is beautiful and looks to serve the test of time in the D&B history books.

“Over the past 15 years the label I started as a hobby, as a way to involve myself in drum and bass, has taken over my life. I’m so lucky to have worked with such incredible artists, have them realise their creativity, and travelled all over the world spreading the sound I love.

I deliberated for a long time over what type of record we should put together to celebrate reaching both our 15th birthday and 100th release. I like to think of us as a label that looks forward, that focuses on what the future holds and on how to make statements without sacrificing our core ideals, to release exciting music centred around the 170bpm tempo. So with this in mind I wanted the LP to be about where the label is now and where it’s going, a snapshot of the music that represents the Critical sound by core label acts and some choice friends.

Throwing Snow 'Embers' LP

Throwing Snow has a new album coming on January 20th 2017. Bristol-based Ross Tones has been working closely with us here at Houndstooth since 2013 first as part of Snow Ghosts before releasing his debut LP, Mosaic, and a run of EPs including the much sort after ‘Axioms’ EP.

Tones' second full-length, Embers, was recorded in Daddry Shield, a tiny village in County Durham. The music “draws stimulus from laws and patterns of the natural world," presenting 14 tracks in Tones' lively, emotive, synth-heavy style. ‘Embers’ will be available digitally, on CD and as a double-pack Red/Orange 180g vinyl with glossy laminated outer sleeve, artwork/concept insert and a spot gloss PVC outer. The vinyl has been created with the track order across sides A, C, B then D so that the listener can mix the album continuously without breaks, if they have two turntables. The album’s start and end appear the same allowing it to cycle endlessly.
