The thing with the Temescal neighborhood in Oakland, as Leopard Cat was quickly finding out, was that it was nothing like the Oakland people read about in guidebooks and saw on the news. Gentrifying at an insane rate, vegan ice cream shops sprouting up next to old fast food joints, and yet, not one person could dress themselves well! Tacky college shirts with dirty jeans, or oversized sweatshirts with food crumbs on the front... it seemed as if no one wanted to look presentable today.

Well, he did spy one little guy with his little eye. Shorter than him, actually. And sauntering about in a robe that must have cost several thousand dollars. What a lucky catch~

“Excuuuuuuse me,” Shu Chi said, swooping in to block the man’s path. “Are my eyes mistaken, or do I see genuine Versace? And you’re taking it outside, where it might be exposed to the elements? What a brave soul you are!”

There were many ways that this Leopard Cat liked to be greeted, and having shit thrown at him was not one of them. As soon as this other cat was beginning to run, Shu Chi was already scampering up the nearest tree, leaping from branch to branch after him.

“I’m going to show you a damn lesson in respect!” He screamed at the top of his lungs in between leaps. “You’ll rue the day you crossed a yaoguai!”
