Round One
@seulgicv
Soft humming and the echo of cards being shuffled were the only sounds in the room. He did it mindlessly, gaze distant and his thoughts elsewhere as his hands went through the familiar motion. Lately it seems like all his recent games were a bit dry. Either too many with no money or no one willing to risk putting some stakes on the line and all that was no fun. He didn’t play cards for fun. Well, technically, he did, but only if he could get something from it. If no one was gonna bite he wasn’t going to bother.
He vaguely wondered if it was his reputation catching up to him. How embarrassing would that have been for the other person? Having to explain to their friends that some air witch had hustled all their money off of them. Ironically, that was the rumor that had circled around the most. ‘That Jongdae will take all your money if you play cards with him’. Funny how the other half always seemed to get cut off. It seemed as though no one ever wanted to share that he not only took everything in your wallet, but even the clothes off your back. That probably would have sent a stronger message.
Despite that, every now and then he’d get a taker. Like right now. He smiles at her from across the table as he finishes shuffling the deck. “You wanna get right into it or do you need a drink to warm up first?” he asks, already moving to deal a hand for the both of them.
“Also we agreed on ...” he tugged at the collar of his shirt, “instead of cash tonight, right?”
