Tam honestly couldn’t remember the last time he called her Tamora so hearing it had the witch pausing and really looking at her cousin. She may not be an empath but she could see the irritation rolling off him in waves, hell she could see it by the way he was standing. He sounded way too much like her father and she hated it. Wyatt was the cool big cousin that helped her when she needed and was there to lend a shoulder when she had nowhere else to turn. She didn’t come to him to be scolded. Even though deep down she knew that she deserved it.
She swallows thickly as his rant continues, hands curling into a fist which leads to her nails digging into her palms. Tam wants to open her mouth and respond but she knows if she does that it will only make this worse because she’ll come off too harsh, too flippant when she really didn’t mean it. The word kid leaves her flinching and lowering her head. Nails dig deeper into her palms as she tries to ground herself.
“I wasn’t trying to be a superhero. I was just trying to help.” She lifts her gaze so she can look at him. “I know this isn’t a game. Believe me, I know. I just wanted to be freaking useful and do something. I’m tired of standing on the sidelines when I can be doing something.”
